Pollard prevails at Fayette County for first career Deery Series feature win

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 24) – Eric Pollard had never been to Fayette County Speedway before Wednesday night. Now he can’t wait to go back. Pollard led all 40 laps of the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at West Union, earning $2,000 for his IMCA Late Model tour career first victory. The win came in front of a big and boisterous grandstand crowd during the county fair, and followed Pollard’s previous career best Deery finish when he ran fourth at Benton County Speedway on June 27. “We finished top five in Vinton and it seemed like we got the weight off our shoulders,” he said. “To win tonight and get that trophy was awesome.” Pollard drew the outside pole start after running second in his heat. Gustin wins, Hibdon impresses in Britt Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights feature

BRITT, Iowa (July 23) – Richie Gustin equaled an Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour record with his third straight victory Tuesday at Hancock County Speedway. Kollin Hibdon, meanwhile, turned heads with his runner-up finish in the IMCA Modified headliner at Britt. Gustin passed travel partner and race-long leader Hibdon on the 26th circuit, then led the last five laps to take the $1,500 checkers ahead of the youngster from Nevada, Jeremy Mills, Kyle Brown and Travis Hatcher. Hibdon had started from the pole, Gustin from inside row two. The front pair were five seconds ahead of their nearest pursuit by lap 10. Gustin used the middle line to take the lead in traffic and pulled away for his tour career-leading 11th win. Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights win at Park Jefferson is Gustin’s tour career 10th

JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 22) – Richie Gustin had to rate Monday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event as a “10.” Gustin won his IMCA Modified tour career best 10th feature at Park Jefferson Speedway, following his opening night tour checkers with a second consecutive Dirt Knights victory. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Gustin earned $1,500. Jesse Sobbing got the best of Josh Most in a lengthy battle behind Gustin to finish second. Early leader Most ended in third. Rounding out the top five were Joel Rust and Chris Abelson. Rust had won his ‘B’ feature and started 13th; hard charger Shane DeMey started 19th and ended in seventh. Mullen rules King of the Creek, collects $5,000 IMCA Stock Car checkers at 141

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (July 18) – Mike Mullen got his feet wet in the division and got his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win of the season last summer. He got his second win and a $5,000 check Thursday night at 141 Speedway. Mullen raced from eighth starting to rule the 50-lap King of the Creek special at Francis Creek, running in front of a field of heavyweights the last 30-plus circuits. “There’s a lot of good competition in this class,” Mullen said, after taking the checkers ahead of Eric Arneson, Luke Lemmens, Jeff Mueller and Jeremy Christians. “We went from eighth to first in winning our second heat on Wednesday and thought the track would be similar on Thursday. By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 18) – On a night that Kossuth County Speedway in Algona saluted our country’s veterans, Nick Meyer and Kelly Shryock came home with big paydays as each driver paced $2,000 to win IMCA features. The winner at Algona and at Hancock County Speedway the previous weekend, Meyer raced to his third straight IMCA Modified victory while putting his name of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. D.J. Shannon had taken advantage of his pole start in the Beck Seeds $2,000 to win event and led early. Meyer took over the top spot after midway and held on to win for the second straight week. Shryock had a solid run in his no. 3 rig to finish second with Shannon taking third as Todd Shute was fourth and Jeff Feaster was fifth. Deery Brothers Summer Series gets top billing at Fayette County Fair show

WEST UNION, Iowa – A blue ribbon-worthy show is guaranteed when the Deery Brothers Summer Series headlines the Wednesday, July 24 race program at Fayette County Speedway. The IMCA Late Model tour main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Todd Cooney of Des Moines was the winner when the series made its much-anticipated return to West Union and the Fayette County Fair last summer. IMCA announces Super Tuesday July 30 for All-Star voting

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Nation goes to the electronic ballot booth on Election Day Tuesday, July 30 to select 28 of the 30 drivers who will start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. All voting will be done through the IMCA Facebook page, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST. The top three vote recipients from each of the five Modified regions will be guaranteed starting spots, with their region of candidacy determined by where they made the majority of their IMCA sanctioned starts. (July 14) – The Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour journeys out of state for the first time this season, traveling to Park Jefferson Speedway for a Monday, July 22 show that opens a four-night swing. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,500 to win in tour events at Jefferson and on Tuesday, July 23 at Hancock County Speedway in Britt, then for a top prize of $2,000 Wednesday, July 24 at Buena Vista Raceway at Alta, in an event that doubles as the Al Ritts Memorial. Arneson makes like lightning in bolt to Legendary IMCA Modified checkers

MANDAN, N.D. (July 12) – Austin Arneson was almost as fast as the lightning on the horizon Friday night at Dacotah Speedway. Arneson led all 40 laps of the fourth Corral Sales Legendary main event, earning a career-best $10,004 payday, a $500 bonus as the leader at midway and a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Super heroes is theme for best appearing car contest at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Dirt track racing heroes competing at Boone Speedway won’t be the only heroes in the pits and on the track at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Modified and Northern SportMod drivers are encouraged to enter cars with the Super Heroes theme. Drivers of the winning cars in each division receive trophies. Speedway Motors gives $100 gift cards to all drivers entering the contest while Sweet Manufacturing gives a steering box to the Modified winner. “Super Nationals is all about heroes, so the tie in to super heroes is obvious,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “There’s room for a lot of imagination with the contest and we look forward to seeing what folks come up with.” “While designs should be original, it’s important that drivers and their graphics designers remember that required decals must be incorporated,” he noted.
