IMCA STARS Mod Lites head to Hendry County for $5,000 to win Winter Nationals main event

CLEWISTON, Fla. (Feb. 12) – IMCA STARS Mod Lites are Hendry County Motorsports Park bound and racing for $5,000 to win on the second night of their weekend Winter Nationals twinbill. Tonight’s feature at Clewiston pays $750 to win and $225 to start, with $50 tow while the Saturday, Feb. 13 main event, part of the Sugar Bowl program, pays $5,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. National special events sponsor Yoshimura adds another $500 in bonuses to eligible podium finishers on Saturday. Friday sees the drivers’ meeting at 7 p.m. and racing following 8 p.m. hot laps. On Saturday, racing follows the 6 p.m. drivers’ meeting and 7 p.m. hot laps. Both race programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV. Cost is $24.99 each night or $39.99 for a two-day pass. IMCA opens loyalty bonus to all pre-registered Lone Star Tour drivers

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 9) – Due to the upcoming cancellation of the other stock car tour scheduled the week before the Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour, IMCA will extend the $500 loyalty bonus to all IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers registered to compete in the Lone Star Tour by 5 p.m. CST today (Tuesday). Registered drivers who ran in January at Corpus Christi will be eligible for that bonus. All tour races now pay those registered drivers a minimum of $1,500 to win. The big week of racing starts with the 24th annual Ice Breaker at Abilene Speedway on Feb. 19, followed by opening night of the fourth annual tour at Abilene. Round 3, 4 Winter Series Challenge IMCA Modified wins to Gaylord, Baca

PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 6-7) – While Tripp Gaylord repeated his weekend runs to victory lane, Chaz Baca scored Sunday IMCA Modified checkers in Canyon Speedway AZ Winter Series Challenge action. After racing early with Bryson Yeager, Gaylord took charge of the Saturday main event and took home $1,000. “I lucked out with the pill draw,” said Gaylord, who started second and finished in front of Baca, 15th starting Cody Thompson and Aaron Elwess. “Then I kept it out front.” Baca, also already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, worked his way up from the third row to reel in leader Elwess on Sunday. Bass makes IMCA STARS Mod Lite history with win at Bubba Raceway Park

OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 5) – Bo Bass raced his way into the IMCA history book Friday night. After running second most of the way, the Eustis, Fla., driver found his way to the front late in the contest to win the first-ever IMCA Stars Mod Lite main event, held at Bubba Raceway Park. He’d started sixth, took over up front when leader Alex Cline exited with mechanical issues in the final circuits and then outran Blake Wilson and Kaden Cochran to the history-making checkers, plus a $250 bonus from national events sponsor Yoshimura. Hard charger Cody Yaw, a rookie of the year last season, raced from 18th starting to fourth. Darrick Hubbard Jr. was fifth. Mari, Black are best at Cocopah’s Winter Nationals Hangover

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 29-30) – Lance Mari outran everybody on opening night for his first IMCA Modified feature win of the season before Tanner Black collected his third Cocopah Speedway checkers of the month, on night two of the Winter Nationals Hangover. Mari drew Friday’s pole start and led all 25 laps in Friday’s $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory at Somerton. The final caution waved with eight to go and Darrell Hughes II chased fellow Californian Mari across the stripe. “Everything ran pretty well. IMCA sponsors quick to add awards for STARS Mod Lite drivers

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA STARS Mod Lite drivers will enjoy contingency support from more than a dozen sponsors in 2021, with a wealth of post-season awards given as well. As announced earlier this week, national events sponsor Yoshimura gives cash bonuses of $250, $150 and $100 to podium finishers at 10 selected specials, beginning with upcoming Saturday Winter Nationals events at Bubba Raceway Park and Hendry County Motorsports Park. 2021 IMCA membership and decals are required for eligibility and bonuses will be mailed from the IMCA home office after placement is verified. “We anticipate that contingency award programs for Mod Lite drivers will continue to grow and are appreciative of the support from sponsors who have already stepped up for the 2021 season,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “We remind Mod Lite drivers that they must be 2021 licensed members to receive contingency awards and any other benefits of IMCA membership. Making his third visit to Arizona Speedway and second of what would be three Wild Wing Shootout starts of the weekend, the Oregon speedster delivered a convincing $1,000 IMCA Modified feature win at San Tan Valley. “When I drew the front row start for the second time, I definitely wanted to make something of it,” the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier said. “I had a really, really quick car and the track was very fast.
