IMCA Central Iowa Stock Car Showdown set for May 9 at Hamilton County

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $2,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $1,000 to win at Hamilton County Speedway’s Tuesday, May 9 Central Iowa Stock Car Showdown. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in both divisions. Pit gates at Webster City open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $17 for adults, $10 for kids ages 6-15 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30. Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour ups Modified winner’s shares to $2,300

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Feature winners on all six nights of the biggest series for IMCA Modifieds will get bigger checks. Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour main events will pay $2,300, a minimum of $300 to start, and are qualifying events for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Opening night for the North Dakota-based tour is Saturday, July 8 at Jamestown Speedway. The tour travels to Nodak Speedway in Minot, on July 9, Estevan, Sask., Motor Speedway on July 10, Williston Basin Speedway on July 11, Southwest Speedway in Dickinson on July 12 and Da­cotah Speedway at Mandan on July 13. Koch leads Sprint Series of Oklahoma to Wichita Speedway

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – After two consecutive rainouts, the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products make its first appearance of the season at Wichita Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas Friday night. The April 28 event is part of the track’s “Sprint Spring Fling.” Local resident and current series point leader Chad Koch looks to add a second victory to his resume as he leads a talent-laden field of veteran and rookies to the quarter-mile clay oval. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, military police and fire personnel, and $10 for kids ages 6-10. The drivers’ meeting is at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m.

URSS Kansas Region opener Saturday at RPM Speedway

HAYS, Kan. – The 2017 United Rebel Sprint Series Kansas Region Championship will kick off this Saturday at RPM Speedway in Hays. The lightning fast 3/8’s mile high banks have seen some of the best battles for wins in the 12-year his­tory of the series and last year Luke Cranston took the first race win en route to the Kansas Regional Crown. Brian Herbert swept the Wheatshocker Nationals and the Rocky Mountain Grill to mark off the race from his bucket list of career accomplishments. Six dates announced for IMCA Empire State Series

CENTER LISLE, N.Y – Six race dates are on the initial schedule for the 2017 Empire State Series for IMCA Modifieds. Thunder Mountain Speedway hosts the opening night show during the Memorial Weekend on May 27. Night two is June 23 at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. The tour returns to Thunder Mountain on July 15 and then travels to Fonda Speedway on Aug. 2. Glen Ridge is site of the Aug. 25 show. The 16th annual tour concludes Sept. 23 at Outlaw Speedway. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded at each event.

IMCA Late Model track point season starts this Friday

VINTON, Iowa – The track point season for IMCA Late Models opens Friday, April 28 and continues through Sunday, Aug. 27. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will also be awarded at Friday venues Davenport Speedway, Farley Speedway and Marshalltown Speedway; Saturday tracks Hamilton County Speedway, Independence Motor Speedway, Maquoketa Speedway and Shelby County Speedway; and Sunday tracks Benton County Speedway, Dubuque Speedway, Quad City Speed­way and West Liberty Raceway. Final national and state points will be awarded through the Liberty 100 Weekend Deery Brothers Sum­mer Series weekend at West Liberty Raceway in September.

$1,500 in cash bonuses paid for Deery Series Highway 20 Triple Crown

VINTON, Iowa (April 19) – Cash bonuses totaling $1,500 will be added to purses paid at this weekend’s Deery Brothers Summer Series tripleheader. The Highway 20 Triple Crown takes touring IMCA Late Models to Farley Speedway on Friday, April 21, to Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 22 and to Dubuque Speedway on Sunday, April 23. Each feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Drivers who compete at all three events are eligible for bonuses based on point standings for the weekend. The top driver in points earns $500, with $400 for second, $300 for third, $200 for fourth and $100 for fifth. Checks will be mailed next week from the IMCA home office in Vinton. West Liberty Raceway hosts rescheduled Modified Extravaganza

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – The racing program at the West Liberty Raceway fell victim to the se­vere weather that passed through the Muscatine County Fairgrounds Saturday night. The Modified Extravaganza has been rescheduled for this Saturday, April 22. The race program will be headlined by IMCA Modifieds battling it out on the half-mile dirt track gunning for the $1,200 first place prize money and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational berth. In addition to the IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will all be racing for expanded purses. Saturday night’s program will get underway with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. followed by racing action at 7 p.m. The West Liberty Raceway regular season opener will be Saturday, April 29, which will feature all the above race divisions plus the high-powered IMCA Late Models.

Highway 20 Triple Crown next for Deery Series

VINTON, Iowa – After two weekend rainouts, a Highway 20 Triple Crown is in the works April 21-23 for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Touring IMCA Late Models make up rained-out shows on Friday, April 21 at Farley Speedway and Saturday, April 22 at Independence Motor Speedway, then travel to Dubuque Speedway for the scheduled Sunday, April 23 event. All three main events pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Highway 20 Triple Crown bonus amounts, as well as information about other IMCA divisions running each night, are to be announced.

Atomic track champion will be first crowned in Ohio by IMCA RaceSaver

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – IMCA will crown its first-ever RaceSaver Sprint Car track champion as well as a series champion in Ohio this season. Atomic Speedway hosted the first of nine events on April 9; points races there April 22, May 20, June 24, July 22 and Aug. 5, 25 and 26, and Sept. 23 also figure toward determining that first champion. The June 24 event is during Ohio Sprint Speedweek and will be broadcast on the internet. The Aug. 26 Open Wheel Championship feature pays $600 to win. Eight Ohio Thunder Sprint Series dates are now on the schedule – at least one more will be added, at a location to be announced – at Atomic, Moler Raceway Park, Southern Ohio Speedway and Hilltop Speedway.
