URSS concentrates on quality, payout in 2018

OBERLIN, Kan. – The Myers Engines sponsored United Rebel Sprint Series will go into its 13th season in 2018 with a tentative schedule paying more money than any other season in the past. “We’ve tried to concentrate more on quality shows this year with most races paying a minimum of $1,000 to win,” said founder Rick Salem. Salem also said additional races are still in the works and as soon as verified will be added to the schedule. One highlight will be the Dodge City, Kan., Raceway Park 305 Nationals on June 15 and 16 with the winner taking home a cool $3,000 and a minimum of $600 paid to start the Saturday night main event. RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan., will host the 10th annual Wheatshocker Nationals on July 14 and 15, which will pay $2,000 to win. Abilene Speedway opens with IMCA Ice Breaker special

ABILENE, Texas – Abilene Speedway’s traditional season-opening Ice Breaker is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16 and 17, with four IMCA divisions on the program each evening. IMCA Modifieds run for $700 to win each night, IMCA Southern SportMods for $600 and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vie for $750 to win in their Lone Star Tour features. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, state and track points will be awarded for both draw/redraw programs. The pits open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday. QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. – $1,500 to win features will be complemented by sunshine and 85 degree days over the course of the Feb. 9-18 Karl Performance Arizona IMCA Modified Tour. One hundred and eleven Modified drivers, and another 49 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod competitors, representing 16 states and two provinces, were pre-registered for the second annual tour. STEPHENVILLE, Texas – IMCA Modifieds now race for $1,000 to win along with a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot on opening night of 281 Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9 and 10 Big Chill Throwdown. The 2018 lidlifter at Stephenville boasts a $600 to win feature for the Modifieds on Saturday while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Southern SportMods battle for $500 top checks each night and Mach-1 Sport Compacts race for $200 to win. 2018 Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule marked by milestones

VINTON, Iowa – A schedule packed with milestone events sees the Deery Brothers Summer Series make its 50th visit to one race track and its first-ever to another speedplant this season. Thirteen race dates are on the calendar for the 32nd annual IMCA Late Model tour, which opens April 13 with the $5,000 to win Rebel 5K on the quarter mile oval at Davenport Speedway. By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – An ambitious schedule awaits the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products/Hoosier Racing Tires Southwest as officials released their 2018 slate on Saturday. The first of four events at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker is slated for Saturday, March 3. Other events scheduled at the 1/4-mile, red clay oval are Friday, April 27; Friday, June 29 as part of the second annual Freedom 40; and the Sprint Car series season finale on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the third annual Pat Suchy Classic. The doubleheader weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway is March 9-10. Other Friday events at the Ardmore speedplant are April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, Aug. 17 and Sept. 14. OSBORN, Mo. – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars debut at a Show Me State track built with Sprint Cars in mind later this month. The Saturday, Oct. 21 main event at US 36 Raceway in Osborn pays $700 to win and a minimum of $250 to start.
