DCRP Sprint Car Nationals, SportMod Mayhem to air live at IMCA.TV

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Dodge City Raceway Park is the place to be for this weekend’s fourth annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals along with the seventh annual IMCA SportMod Mayhem North vs. South Duel atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.  However, not all is lost for those that unable to take in all the excitement in person, as all three nights of action will be aired live via Pay-Per-View at www.imca.tv. Each night of action will be available for just $20 or get all three nights of competition for just $50.  The monumental racing weekend in Dodge City begins on Thursday and ultimately culminates with Saturday’s $3,000-to-win DCRP Sprint Car finale and the $1,500-to-win SportMod Mayhem North vs. South Duel championship event. Davenport Speedway celebrates Aug. 21 Weedon Memorial, centennial

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Davenport Speedway combines two celebrations on a single night of racing, marking the 100th year since the track opened with the 15th annual Ronnie Weedon Memorial. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth their draw/redraw show. IMCA Sunoco Late Models and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are also on the Friday, Aug. 21 card.  There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded.  Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for four and under.

IMCA Modifieds chasing $1,500 check at Murray County special

SLAYTON, Minn. – A $1,500 to win, 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event gets top billing at Murray County Speedway’s Aug. 21 Swede Shootout/Muecke Memorial special.  There is no entry fee and Modifieds run for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and KMJ Performance Minnesota State points, but not track points, in their draw/redraw show.  Completing the Friday night program are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts with national, regional, state and track points on the line.  Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow.  Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for kids 8 and under. Pit passes are $30.

Race For Trace is Tuesday at Fairmont

FAIRMONT, Minn. – IMCA drivers Race For Trace next Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Fairmont Raceway. The midweek show boasts a $25,000-plus purse but more importantly raises funds to help pay medical costs for car owner and sponsor Trace Iverson.  Three dollars from each admission ticket sold will be donated and the 15 drivers Iverson helps sponsor will pass their helmets in the grandstand and pit area. Items to be auctioned include donated door panels while the raffle includes a wheel autographed by Richard Petty. Tuesday’s IMCA Modified feature pays $2,020 to win and is a 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event, while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $2,000 to win. United Rebel Sprint Series back in action at Bob Salem Memorial

OBERLIN, Kansas – The Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing returns to action this Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15 for the Bob Salem Memorial at Oberlin, Kan., Speedway Friday’s event will pay $700 to the winner. On Saturday, the feature winner of the Bob Salem Memorial finale will take home a $1,000 payday.   Races are slated to begin at 7 p.m. both nights. Admission is $20, kids ages 7-12 $5, and kids 6 and under free.  Jake Bubak captured the feature win in 2019 on Friday night’s event while Jason Martin was the Saturday night Bob Salem Memorial finale feature winner.  The Bob Salem Memorial will be streamed live on Speedmax TV (IMCA.TV) for $15 each night or $25 for both nights.

IMCA Modified stars shine at Hancock County Aug. 13, 14 specials

BRITT, Iowa – All roads lead to Hancock County Speedway for a pair of the biggest IMCA Modi­fied events of the season, the Aug. 13 Night of 1,000 Stars and Aug. 14 Night of 10,000 Stars.  Modifieds race for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start on Thursday, and for $4,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start on Friday. Both features are 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and will be 50 laps, with four $250 mystery position awards given at half­way.  Modified drivers need to register online on My Race Pass. United Rebel Sprint Series heads to Sherman County Speedway this Sunday

GOODLAND, Kan. – The POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing is coming off a busy weekend with an action-packed month ahead.  On Sunday, Aug. 9, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series competitors head to the 3/8-mile Sher­man County Speedway in Goodland, Kan. Hot laps are slated to begin at 4 p.m. with green flag racing set to start at 5 p.m. for the county fair race  Looking ahead, the URSS will prepare for a doubleheader weekend on Aug. 14 and 15 at Oberlin Speedway in Oberlin, Kan. In 2019, Jake Bubak and Jason Martin were victorious at the 3/8-mile semi-banked dirt track.   The Dodge City Raceway Park Nationals will take place Aug. 20-22 and tentatively rounding out the month the schedule sees the United Rebel Sprint Series at Phillips County Speedway in Holyoke, Kan., on Aug. 28.

Hershey tribute this Saturday at Port Royal

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Sprint Series will make its fourth 2020 visit to Port Royal Speedway Saturday night, taking part in a program honoring the memory of a widely respected member of the Central Pennsylvania racing community. The Tribute to Curt Hershey honors one of the area’s leading engine builders, who passed away earlier this year. More than a few Hershey motors will be racing this weekend at Port Royal.  For PASS teams, the tribute also means a purse increase and special awards. CG Racing En­gines has added to the race purse to make the winner’s share $444 (Hershey’s son Joey ran car no. 44 with PASS), with comparable increases throughout the field; last place will pay $222.  Additionally, CG Racing Engines has matched the $100 awarded by Penns Valley Meat Market for the Hard Charger Award, making that $200 total. EAST MOLINE, Ill – The Bullring at Rock Island County Fairgrounds remembers one of its own with the inaugural Greg Durbin Memorial on Sunday, Aug. 2.  The IMCA Modified feature pays $2,008 to win and is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The Modified portion of the show is draw/redraw with a $50 entry fee, with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing, Side Biter Chassis North Central and KMJ Performance Illinois State, but no track points to be awarded.
