Sample is double winner in I-80 Challenge Series

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. (May 30-31) – Cory Sample couldn’t have asked for a better opening weekend for the inaugural I-80 Challenge Series. Sample won both IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features, picking up $1,000 for Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31 victories during Battle Mountain Raceway’s Frank Iturriaga NAPA Memorial special. “I had pretty good luck drawing all weekend so that helped,” said the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate. “I’ve won $1,000 to win races before but never two of them back to back.” “The weekend before I’d broken the gas pedal at a $1,000 to win show in California,” he added, “so this was a whole lot better weekend.” Sample started on the Friday pole but fell back to third behind Ward Amberson and Randy Artz. Ken Schrader joins IMCA Modifieds Friday at Boone County

ALBION, Neb. – Ken Schrader joins the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified field this Friday, June 6 for a $1,000 to win feature at Boone County Raceway. Pit gates open at 6 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6:30 p.m. for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier at Albion. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $5 for students ages 9-17 and free for eight and under. Pit passes are $25 for the draw/redraw show. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts also run Friday and all applicable points will be awarded in those divisions.

Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Pink Night Saturday at Independence

By Ryan Clark INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The tradition of opening the month of June with a splash of pink continues this season at Independence Motor Speedway. The Saturday, June 7 program is the annual Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Pink Night at the Races. Race fans are encouraged to wear pink to the races that evening to help promote cancer awareness. Members from the area chapter of Relay for Life will be on hand selling merchandise to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Also a tradition, the annual helmet drive will again be held this season. A handful of drivers will make their way through the grandstands during intermission to help raise money for the cause. As an added bonus this year, the Saturday, June 7 program is also billed Fan Appreciation Night. Hamilton County postpones Deery Series, XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour doubleheader

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 3) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series and XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour events Tuesday night at Hamilton County Speedway have been postponed due to impending severe weather. Series events for both touring IMCA Late Models and IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Webster City are to be rescheduled.

Dominick Bruns Memorial Challenge Cup Chase dates set

DANUBE, Minn. – The Dominick Bruns Memorial Challenge Cup Chase for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars boasts a trio of $1,000 to win features at as many different Minnesota speedplants. Features on Saturday, June 7 at Jackson Speedway, Friday, July 18 at Murray County Speedway and Sunday, Aug. 10 at Redwood Speedway all pay a minimum of $100 to start. The top driver in point standings for the three nights earns a $1,000 share of the $2,000 series point fund and becomes eligible to qualify for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Both races are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and the first races in the first annual I-80 Challenge Series. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State, special series and local track points will be awarded. Final Lone Star Series checkers fly at Texas Nationals

WACO, Texas – IMCA Lone Star Series shows on Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway do double duty as the Texas Nationals. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks all see holiday weekend action at Waco. Both Modified features will pay $1,000 to win and are qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. SportMod features pay $750 to win, Stock Car features pay $600 and Hobby Stock features $400. BILLINGS, Mont. – The inaugural Modified Mayhem at Billings Motorsports Park boasts a $2,500 top prize. The Saturday, May 31 special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds pays a minimum of $100 to start, is sponsored by Sorenson Racing of Billings and is a qualifying event for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western or Belleville Motorsports North Central regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Non-qualifiers taking at least one green flag during the evening get $50 tow money. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $25.
