Matt Sanders Surges from Ninth to Score SportMod Victory at CGS

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 10, 2025) — Matt Sanders charged from ninth to take command of the 25-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event at Cottage Grove Speedway. The 2022 Oregon State and track champion steadily worked his way through the pack, eventually slipping past Garrett Craig for the lead on the backstretch of lap 10. Once in front, Sanders set a blistering pace and opened up a comfortable gap over the field. Craig, who led the opening laps, maintained a strong run in second, fending off multiple challengers as Sanders pulled away. The race for third became the focal point in the closing laps, with Aaron Bloom and Isaac Sanders battling door-to-door until Bloom secured the spot in the final circuits. Tocci Cruises to Second Straight Modified Win at ECS

By Ben Deatherage GREAT FALLS, Mont. (May 3, 2025) — Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds took center stage at Electric City Speedway for a 20-lap main event. Kolby Hannah managed to outmaneuver Jordan Tocci to lead the opening circuit, but Tocci, the two-time reigning Gallatin Speedway champion from Three Forks, swiftly reclaimed the top spot on lap four. From there, Tocci began to pull away as Hannah and David Davis battled for second. A mid-race caution on lap 10 regrouped the field, but Tocci proved untouchable on the restart, driving away to secure his second straight victory at ECS and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Clay Claims Victory in SportMod Feature at El Paso County

(May 3, 2025) — A strong field of 12 drivers packed the pits of El Paso County Raceway for the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod division, and when the dust settled in the feature, it was Scott Clay of Colorado Springs parking his machine in victory lane. Starting from the pole, Clay led wire-to-wire, fending off heavy pressure in the closing laps to seal the win. His heat win earlier in the evening set the tone for a dominant performance. Coming from the fourth starting spot, Dave Stock made significant headway to claim second place in the main event. Christensen Claims First-Ever Stock Car Win in Wild Shelby County Feature

By Don Hawkins HARLAN, Iowa (May 3, 2025) — Riley Christensen thrilled the Shelby County Speedway crowd with a dramatic breakthrough victory in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, leading the final laps of a wild feature that included multiple lead changes, a tangle between frontrunners, and a green-white-checkered finish. Christensen, of Audubon, grabbed the point on lap 1 but was reeled in by Mike Vondrak and Larry Robinson Jr. midway through the race. Vondrak snuck underneath to lead lap 10, but a caution changed everything. Robinson made a move on the restart and got around Vondrak in turn three, but the two made contact, bringing out another caution. Vondrak came to a stop, handing the lead back to Christensen. In the final laps, Christensen held off intense pressure from Dustin Reeh to claim his first-ever Stock Car feature win — a milestone that also marked his first career victory in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. The two-time Nebraska State champion went toe-to-toe with Wisconsin’s Cole Czarneski in an edge-of-your-seat battle that set the tone for a thrilling 30-lap finale at Clay County Fair Speedway. Czarneski briefly led on lap 3 and their door-to-door duel allowed IMCA TV Winter Nationals champion Shelby Williams to enter the fray. The reigning Wisconsin State and 141 Speedway titlist finally gained an edge on lap 13 while the field stayed green, and Shryock climbed into third in the Mike Hauan owned-Lake View Motorsports No. 3. By Ben Deatherage SPENCER, Iowa (May 4, 2025) — The 2025 Clay County Classic roared to life Sunday evening at Clay County Fair Speedway with an action-packed program featuring five divisions of IMCA racing. The night’s headliner was a dramatic Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, where five-time National champion Jordan Grabouski stormed from 11th starting to first in a late-race thriller. A three-wide scrap for the lead broke out between Kelly Shryock, Chaz Baca Jr., and Ricky Stephan in the early laps, with Shryock gaining the initial advantage. After an early caution, Baca—the two-time defending National champion—blasted to the front on lap 4. Baca, a standout in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, tagged the wall on lap 10 but held the lead. Seidel Steals It Late in Hobby Stock Thriller at North Central

(May 3, 2025) — The race of the night at North Central Speedway came from the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, as veteran Chris Seidel delivered a dramatic last-lap pass to steal the win and his first of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Seidel jumped to the early lead before a caution on lap three bunched up the field. Josh Maleski, a second-year driver, quickly moved into contention. Maleski slipped past Seidel on lap 7 with a bold move to the inside down the backstretch, taking over the top spot before another yellow reset the field. Multiple cautions on laps 7 and 8 kept the pack tight, but Maleski held strong as Seidel regrouped behind him. (May 3, 2025) — The 45th season opener at Arlington Raceway roared to life with six Speedway Motors IMCA divisions on the card and a hard-fought Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature that set the tone for an unforgettable night. Blake Luinenburg held off a furious late-race charge from Cory Probst to pick up his first win of the season on a new track surface. Jordan Robinson paced the field on lap one before a caution slowed the action. That opened the door for Luinenburg, making his debut in a newly built car, to charge to the front. Gereau Edges Ten Napel in Stock Car Classic

Chad Ten Napel took the lead on lap 3 and looked strong through two early cautions. Two-time South Dakota State champion Todd Gereau, who started 12th, patiently carved through the field and entered the lead battle with just a few laps to go. Gereau made a daring move on lap 17, diving low to briefly grab the lead, only to drift wide and surrender the position.
