SPENCER, Iowa (Aug. 17, 2026) — Austin Brands withstood a charge from Kelly Shryock to capture Monday night’s 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Clay County Fair Speedway.
Brands, of Alta, started on the pole and led all 25 circuits, but Shryock made sure the trip to victory lane was anything but comfortable.
Shryock worked forward seven positions and eventually reached second, where he applied heavy pressure to Brands in the battle for the lead. Brands refused to give way and held off the veteran at the checkers for his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of 2026 and first at Clay County.
Shryock settled for second, with Dayton Ullrich third, Mike Albertsen fourth and Mike Vondrak fifth.
Beckendorf Goes Flag to Flag in Modifieds
Brandon Beckendorf controlled the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature from the outset, starting on the pole and leading the distance for his 15th victory of the season.
The Danube, Minn., driver recorded his 14th Razor Chassis North Central Region triumph of 2026 and third at the Spencer three-eighths-mile oval.
Jesse Rogotzke finished second, Chris Abelson was third, Matthew Looft took fourth, and Mike Jergens completed the top five.
Smith Dominates SportMod Feature
Mike Smith left little doubt in the 20-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature.
The Lake City driver started from the pole and led every circuit, building a 6.7-second advantage on his way to his 12th victory of 2026 and first of the season at Clay County.
Willy Kirk crossed the stripe second, followed by Blake Andrews, Justin Klynsma, and Zach Davis.
Schettler Charges to Third Hobby Stock Win of 2026
Evan Schettler worked forward five positions to score his third B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock victory of the season.
Brandon Nielsen paced the field early before Schettler raced his way to the front. Will Smith challenged Schettler for the top spot, but the Luverne, Minn., driver held him off to collect his second Clay County victory of the season.
Smith finished second, Nielsen third, Jay DeVries fourth, and Justin Frederick fifth.
Osler Makes It Two Straight at Clay County
Brooke Osler made it back-to-back IMCA Sport Compact victories at Clay County Fair Speedway.
Kaytee DeVries led early before Osler, of Milford, powered by on a restart and took command. Osler stayed out front from there for her fourth victory of 2026, with two coming at Clay County in consecutive weeks.
Gilbert Aldape finished second, Michael Gardner was third, DeVries fourth, and Tyler Fiebelkorn fifth.
