Oenning drives to first IMCA Late Model win at Donnellson

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – A busy night of IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing took place at the Lee County Speedway on Friday with Darkside Tint & Graphix helping to bring all the action. When the final checkered flag waved at 10:10 p.m., one driver had claimed his first career win, two drivers earned their first of the season at Donnellson and two more were repeat winners. The 25-lap IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature saw Ed Hollenbeck and Blaire Barton lead the field to green. Hollenback led on lap one over Ray Raker and Sam Halstead. As Hollenbeck worked the bottom, Raker went to the top to try and get by. On lap eight, Raker used the momentum off the top of turn four to grab the top spot away from Hollenbeck. Shute, Olson take Topless wins at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – It was the Dirty 30 Topless Two-Fer presented by Capital Sign Company at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday night so Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Northern SportMods shed their tops for a night of racing topless. The Modified winner was Todd Shute while Kyle Olson went to victory lane in the SportMods. The IMCA Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap ran a 30 lapper. Johnathon Logue started on the pole and jumped to the immediate lead, as Joel Rust who had started on the outside front row, tucked in to run second. Rust had the lead by lap six but by then it was ninth place starter Shute and Dallon Murty joining in challenging Logue and leader Rust in a real dogfight. Shute made the pass down low on Rust at lap 12 and took the lead with Murty and then Drew Janssen giving him chase. Keller takes care of IMCA Modified business at Dacotah’s Iron Man

MANDAN, N.D. (June 3, 2023) – Jeremy Keller followed his game plan to the letter Saturday night at Dacotah Speedway. As a result, the two-time race runner-up became the first-time winner of Mandan’s 100-lap Iron Man main event for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. “It was a long race but it went by fast. It was a big night for us, that’s for sure,” Keller said following the career-best $5,000 checkers. “We were determined. We tested stuff this spring to see how we could be most competitive at the end. Run hard, be in front and not get passed late was the game plan.” From Bismarck, Keller had led much of the 2021 and 2022 Iron Man marathons before finishing second to Kollin Hibdon. Five IMCA feature winners decided on final laps at CJ

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – All five IMCA feature events came down to the final laps, with winners being determined on the final straight away Friday at CJ Speedway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event came down to the final corner as race leader Kurt Kile encountered lapped traffic and shot to the extreme high line of the speedway in turn four. This allowed an opening on the bottom side of the track and Jarrett Brown was there to take advantage of the opening. Brown was able to get to the checkers less than a car length ahead of Kile. The 77 of Kile led the majority of the race only to be bested by Brown on the last lap. Kile took second ahead of Dakota Simmons. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event was another action-packed event that saw close racing, some bumps and a driver racing from the back twice. Whitman goes back-to-back at Outagamie

(June 2, 2023) – Fresh off a heat race win, Wyatt Block looked to be the man to beat early in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Outagamie Speedway. Last week’s winner Johnny Whitman joined the battle for the top spot before the midway point but with both drivers running the same line, Block was in control. That all changed once Block hit lapped traffic and had to move around the track. Once Block was deep in traffic, Whitman threw a slider in turn three, pinning Block behind a lap car. Whitman took over the top spot and dominated the remainder of the event. Block had to settle for second, Konnor Wilinski took third and fourth went to Lucas Lamberies. It’s not over till it’s over and that was the case in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods feature, a thriller between Corey Kemkes and Brady Harshbarger. Prestige, big paydays for champions at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – Prestige and big paydays are on the line again at the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Seven champions will be crowned over the course of the Sept. 2-3 Prelude and Sept. 4-9 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. Those drivers will not only etch their name in the history book of the most prestigious event in dirt track racing, they can take those titles to the bank. First checkers fly for Alex Smith at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 1, 2023) – Alex Smith earned career win number one in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods to highlight an exciting night of dirt track racing at the Kossuth County Speedway on Thursday, June 1. In his sixth season in the class, Smith started on the pole and led the entire race with a good battle for second place behind him between Charlie Stevens, Justin Raymond, Alec Fett, Matt Looft and Jake Simpson. Raymond prevailed in that battle as Fett was third with Looft taking fourth and Simpson rounded out the top finishers in the feature. Smith made it a clean sweep on the night as he also won his heat race. For the fourth straight week, Olivier Monson simply dominated the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts as he grabbed the lead immediately and cruised to his fourth feature win of the season at the track. Car photos needed this fall for Allstar Performance heat win awards

VINTON, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – With the Memorial Weekend in the rearview, IMCA racing action will heat up literally and figuratively all the way to the end of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season. Correspondingly, drivers in all nine IMCA divisions winning heat races through the last full weekend of September receive heat win decals courtesy of Allstar Performance. Winning 10 or more heats this season gets them a $100 gift card from the Watervliet, Mich., high performance parts manufacturer. The driver, regardless of division, winning the most heat races gets a $250 gift card. The sole requirements, IMCA Marketing Integration and Sponsorship Director Carson Becker-Gramm reminds drivers, is that they must display those heat win decals on their race car and send a picture of their car proving decal placement, to be eligible. IMCA Dakota Classic Tour will be ‘back to normal’

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (June 1, 2023) – For the first time in what’s been years, the guy who’s been around for all the years of the Dakota Classic Tour powered by Industrial Electric believes things will be back to normal. And normal is good. The 34th annual tour takes Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to six different tracks in North Dakota and Saskatchewan over the course of its July 8-13 run.
