Dickerson gets IMCA Modified win, Munoz gets career highlight at Boone Frostbuster

BOONE, Iowa (April 8) – After finishing repairs to the roof of his shop, Russ Dickerson put the finishing touches on his IMCA Modified. On Saturday, he finished first in the Frostbuster main event at his hometown Boone Speedway and started to turn his luck around with a $1,000 payday. “This was a pretty good way to start out the season and a good way to start the month,” said Dickerson, who’d lost the roof of his shop to a windstorm some four weeks ago. “We started eighth and everything worked out in our favor. Scott is great late to win IMCA Modified feature at Marshalltown Frostbuster

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 7) – Johnny Scott was understandably impressed by the quality of the IMCA Modified feature field at Marshalltown Speedway’s Frostbuster special Friday night. The New Mexico native, now racing out of Cameron, Mo., was the most impressive, racing from 18th starting to top the $1,000 to win event ahead of Kyle Brown and Hunter Marriott. “There were a lot of good cars here tonight. IMCA Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods new at North Dakota’s Thunder Mountain Speedway

BOTTINEAU, N.D. – IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers will chase points on eight Thursday nights this season at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Bottineau. “We’re getting some interest from drivers in both divisions looking to race another night for national and state points,” said promoter Jason Laducer. “We been WISSOTA sanctioned and in keeping in line with other tracks in the area decided to go with IMCA.” Race nights on the 2017 schedule at Thunder Mountain are May 4 and 18, June 8 and 22, July 20 and 27, and Aug. 3 and 17. “These divisions are good transitions for younger drivers to what we consider entry level divisions,” Laducer said. “Once the Hobby Stock and SportMod divisions are established, our eventual goal is to have special events for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.” The all-volunteer Thunder Mountain Speedway Association is already getting the ¼-mile dirt oval ready for opening night and Laducer said “a few unique local sponsorships” are in place for the upcoming season. SUTTON, Neb. – Friesen Performance will power the sophomore seasons of three of IMCA’s 2017 national rookies of the year. The top first-year Modified driver receives a 604 crate engine while top Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock rookies both receive 602 crate engines from the Sutton, Neb., dealership. Montezuma County readies for IMCA Stock Car Rumble In The Rockies

CORTEZ, Colo. – Big paydays for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are on the line both nights of Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway’s season-opening Rumble In The Rockies special. The Friday, April 21 feature pays $750 to win while a top prize of $1,000 is on the line on Saturday, April 22.
