Hurst sails to 2K win Sunday at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 4) – Racing Sunday at Dubuque Speedway on Sunday was highlighted by the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge, featuring a 40-lap feature for the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models. When the green waved for an early restart it was Dubuque driver Jeremiah Hurst taking to the high line around the very smooth 3/8-mile clay track. Hurst went on to lead the flag-to-flag for the $2,000 win. Joel Callahan ran second ahead of Dan Shelliam on Sunday night. The Merfeld Automotive IMCA Modifieds provided the fans with spectacular racing on Sunday night with the winner in doubt right down to the checkered flag. Andy Eckrich takes $2,000 IMCA Late Model win at West Liberty

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (June 3) – Racing resumed at the West Liberty Raceway on Saturday night following a hiatus due to the recent wet weather. Saturday night’s racing included the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge plus an emotional night of racing for the Jennifer Brauns Massey Memorial. The 30 lap Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature saw Andy Eckrich establish himself in the early going as the man to beat. Andy was forced to fight off the constant challenges of his brother Denny before Chad Holladay joined in the battle for the lead. Andy Eckrich had the race in hand before lapped traffic came into play allowing Holladay and Denny Eckrich to close. 5-year IMCA sponsor Penske Racing Shocks gives Modified, Late Model, Stock Car awards

READING, Pa. – Drivers in three IMCA divisions are in the running for contingency awards from Penske Racing Shocks again in 2017. The Reading, Pa., manufacturer and five-year IMCA sponsor gives product certificates valued at $350, $250 and $150, respectively, to top three eligible finishers in each of the five regions for IMCA Modifieds and in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions. Certificates in the same dollar increments will be awarded to eighth, ninth and 10th place finishers in national standings for IMCA Late Models. Modified and Stock Car drivers are required to compete with four Penske shocks, display two Penske decals on their race car and return a sign-up form to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1. JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Nine states and Canada are already represented in on-line registrations for the July 8-13 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. All six IMCA Modified main events will pay $2,300, a minimum of $300 to start, and are qualifying events for 2017 upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Davenport’s SportMod Challenge pays $2,000 to win

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods take over the spotlight in a $2,000 to win main event on Friday, June 9 at Davenport Speedway. The IMCA SportMod Challenge will use a draw/redraw format and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Kay scores big at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 2) – Friday night’s racing at Farley Speedway was highlighted by a 40-lap Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track feature for the Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models. When the checkered flag flew following the 16-minute main event, which ran caution-free, it was Justin Kay capturing the $2,000 payday. Kay led the 40 lapper flag-to-flag despite very heavy late race pressure by Andy Eckrich and Ryan Dolan. The frontrunners encountered lapped traffic as the race wound down and as the front three raced under the flagstand with three laps to go they were separated by less than a car length. Kay was able to clear lapped traffic and score the win over Eckrich and Dolan. Matt Gansen turned around some early season misfortunes and raced to the 20-lap feature win in the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modified feature. Gansen took the win over Jeff Aikey. Schmuhl is outstanding in Oshkosh Stocks

OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 2) – Jeff Schmuhl, in his second full night in the Outlaw Chassis IMCA Stock Car division, started the main event from outside pole and led every lap to record his first career feature win Friday at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. A late race caution with two laps left bunched the field but Schmuhl held off defending champion, Travis Van Straten, David Hoerning, Jeremy Christians, Aaron Stolp and Joe White to seal the deal. Other winners of scheduled features were Tony Wedelstadt in the Automotive Supply Co. IMCA Modifieds, Lucas Lamberies in the Don Herman Auto Repair IMCA Northern SportMods and Chris Maas, who topped the Lynn’s Service Center IMCA Sport Compact main with a last-lap pass. Winning make-up features were Eric Scribner in a caution-free Modified contest and Kevin Bethke in the Northern SportMods. The event had 120 cars entered for the evening.

Duffy drives to first Marshalltown win of season

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 2) – Darin Duffy made his first visit of the season to Marshalltown Speedway on Friday and was rewarded with the IMCA Modified feature win. Jimmy Gustin saw his nice lead disappear when a yellow flew at lap seven. By this time, Duffy had made it to second after starting 11th and Joel Rust, who had started even deeper in the field, was closing in on the frontrunners. The three top cars duked it out, swapping positions until Duffy finally established the top spot for good, and sealed the win. Rust took the runner-up spot and Gustin was third. Another driver getting his first win at Marshalltown after trying for five years was Johnathon Logue Jr. in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. First wins for four Friday at Luxemburg

By Scott Owen LUXEMBURG, Wis. (June 2) – A robust field of 121 cars signed in the battle it out Friday at Luxemburg Speedway. Lance Arneson, John Heinz, Dennis Miesler and Alvin Testroete all got their first local IMCA wins of the season. The IMCA Modified feature started with Jeff Bodendorfer leading the first five laps. Arneson got underneath Bodendorfer to take the lead on lap six. During the second half of the race Russ Reinwald got to second but could never mount a serious charge as Arneson went to victory lane. In IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action, Heinz proved to too tough to catch as he led every lap en route to victory. Kyle Frederick worked his way from 13th to challenge late in the race but to no avail. Miesler led wire to wire to win the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Miesler was pestered all race long by the likes of Scott Boyea, Chris Budzban and Sawyer Haese.
