Droste checks out at Britt, collects career first Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour checkers

BRITT, Iowa (June 27) – Eleven minutes and some odd seconds was all it took for Tyler Droste to win his career first Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature, and $3,000. Droste started on the pole of the Tuesday night main event for IMCA Modifieds during Hancock County Speedway’s Salute to Veterans special and led every time around the track in a 30-lapper that ran green to checkers. He was half a straightaway ahead of Joel Rust when he caught up with the back of the 24-car field at midway. Rust cut into Droste’s advantage but the leader mastered lapped traffic and won handily. Rust ended in second while tour point leader Kelly Shryock ran third. Twelfth starting Ricky Thornton Jr. and 11th starting Hunter Marriott completed the top five. Droste became the fourth different winner in as many Dirt Tour events so far this season. He was already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Radivoy defends CRSA territory at Orange County

By Edward Kochersberger MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (June 24) – A dramatic late-race move gave Thomas Radivoy his second CRSA IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win of the season at Orange County Fair Speedway Saturday night. The main event was shortened from 20 laps to fifteen due the threat of rain in the area and challenger Bret Jaycox knew he had to make things happen quickly because of the race length. Jaycox used the outside starting lane to work through turn one and two to take the lead away from Radivoy early and dominate a majority of the event. The move of the race was seen when Radivoy and Jaycox were rolling out of turn four toward the white flag. Jaycox drifted a little high and lost just enough momentum for Radivoy to point his car underneath Jaycox and take command of the race lead during the final lap of the evening. The win was Radivoy’s CRSA third on the season and second at Middletown. Sydney Prince and Christian Rumsey snuck by Jaycox to finish second and third, [Read More]

Lutz wins Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series thriller at Grandview

By Erika Palmai Wagner BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. (June 24) – Scott Lutz earned his trip to victory lane Saturday at Grandview Speedway after being pressured by second-running Tommy Carberry the majority of the 25-lap Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature event. Carberry was rim-riding his way around the 1/3 mile high-banked oval and took over the lead as the field was crossing the start-finish line for the white flag. That lead was short-lived as he came into contact with the outside guardrail going down the back stretch, handing the top spot back to Lutz. “I really just drove as hard as I could,” Lutz said. “When the top started to go away for me, I thought to myself that my only shot was getting around the lap cars and getting them in between us, but that actually almost cost me the race in the final laps there.” “I know he had gotten by me but when we got to the back stretch on that final lap, I dove in front of the lap car and that’s how I [Read More]

Saturday SSO win goes to defending champion Shouse

By David Smith Jr. ADA, Okla. (June 24) – Defending champion Andy Shouse took the lead on lap two and never looked back in capturing his third victory of the season when the Sprint Series of Oklahoma visited Oklahoma Sports Park on Saturday night. Chad Koch and Chris Kelly started on the front row for the 20-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature and it was Koch who quickly jumped into the lead. The fourth starting Shouse quickly moved into the runner-up position and was on the leader’s rear bumper entering turns three and four. Shouse got a run underneath Koch exiting turn four to take the lead on lap two and quickly opened a half-stretch lead. The leader encountered slower traffic on lap 10 which allowed Koch to cut the deficit in half. With three laps remaining, Shouse followed a slower car for the remaining laps allowing Koch to close to three car lengths. That was as close as he got, however, as Shouse held on to score his fourth career series victory. Gary Owens [Read More]
