Mighty Axe Nationals set Sept. 5, 6 at North Central Speedway

BRAINERD, Minn. – The Mighty Axe Nationals bring IMCA drivers in five divisions to North Central Speedway over the Labor Day Weekend.  IMCA Modifieds run for $1,100 and a minimum of $100 to start their Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5 and 6 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers.  Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $300 to win both nights. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $650 to win on Sunday.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded.  There is no entry fee. Pit passes are $40 for one day or $75 for both days. Gillette’s East-West Clash features IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks

GILLETTE, Wy. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run all three nights of Gillette Thunder Speedway’s annual East-West Clash special. All three Modified features are 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events, with $1,000 at stake Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-6.  Hobby Stocks run for $250 to win Friday and Saturday and for $350 to win on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded all three nights.Car entry fee for Modifieds is $50 on Friday, $75 on Saturday and $100 on Sunday; Hobby Stocks are $35 each night.      Pit passes are $30. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. each night. Five IMCA divisions head to High Banks for Showdown at MoTown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Drivers in five IMCA divisions battle it out on the High Banks of Mar­shalltown Speedway, at the Sept. 4 Showdown at MoTown.  IMCA Modifieds chase a $1,000 top check in their 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot quali­fier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both race for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts – the 4-cylinder class is new to the card – both for $300 to win.  There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:55 p.m. with racing to follow. CJ Speedway hosts Friday night finale of 2020

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 28) – The weekly Friday night racing season at CJ Speedway came to a close with a great night of racing on the perfectly prepared multi-groove race track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars put on their usual side-by-side thrilling racing with the winner in doubt until the checkers waved in the 20 lap main event. David Brandies scored a hard-fought win over track champion, Adam Bell.  Brandies led the entire race but was hounded by Jason See and Bell and all three drivers had a shot at the win as they took the white flag in tightly bunched pack. Bell took to the outside in turn four coming to the checkers but came up less than half a car length short at the checkers with See in third right on Brandies bumper.   Cody Staley had a season for the record books in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Beckendorf, Larson, Brown named to Fast Shafts All-Star field

BOONE, Iowa – Brandon Beckendorf and Jeff Larson will complete the Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional field. They’ll have the top IMCA Modified national point and 40-point win totals, respectively, going into the week of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The $1,000 to win All-Star race is Friday, Sept. 11 at Boone Speedway.  Both drivers have made one previous All-Star start, Beckendorf, from Danube, Minn., in 2018 and Lar­son, from Freeport, Ill., last year. And Kyle Brown of Madrid has been named to the All-Star field replacing Hunter Marriott, now unable to attend Super Nationals. The All-Star start will be the fifth consecutive for Brown, his best finish being fourth in the 2017 race.

Karl continues crate engine awards for Super Nationals Modified, Hobby, SportMod champions

BOONE, Iowa – One of the most unique and appreciated awards programs in all of motorsports will take center stage again on dirt track racing’s biggest stage.  Karl Kustoms of Des Moines awards a 604 crate engine to the Modified champion, and 602 crate engines to Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod champions crowned on Saturday night during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway.  “Karl’s has done this for a number of years now. It’s pretty neat that all drivers who win Saturday championships at our biggest event will go home with new engines,” observed IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “It’s great to be able to present new crate engines to our Modified, Hobby Stock and SportMod champions and another way that Super Nationals sets itself apart from other motorsports events.”  Engines of Super Nationals Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and SportMod champions are claimed by IMCA, with proceeds from the auction Saturday evening divided equally among the other drivers qualifying for those respective events.

Bonuses, lap leader money add $8,000-plus to Super Nationals paydays

BOONE, Iowa – More than $8,000 in bonuses and lap leader money will be paid out at the Sept. 7-12 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Quick Performance gives $100 bonuses to the winners of three qualifying features for Hobby Stocks, three qualifying features for Northern SportMods and six Stock Car qualifying features. One hundred dollar bonuses from Aeromotive go to drivers winning the qualifying features for Modifieds.  Lap leaders in Friday’s 30-lap Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Modifieds earn $25 courtesy of Elmquist Towing each time they’re scored first around the track.  Leading each circuit in the 12-car, 12-lap Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions for Modifieds pays $100. 2020 IMCA point season ends on Sunday, Sept. 27

VINTON, Iowa – The 2020 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season will end on Sun­day, Sept. 27. Final points races will be held that day for sanctioned Modifieds, Late Models, RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods, Southern SportMods and Sport Com­pacts.  Bonus points will be figured and national and regional champi­ons and rook­ies of the year announced as soon as possi­ble. Local track officials have until noon Central Standard Time on Monday, Oct. 26 to notify IMCA of corrections that affect their top 15 point stand­ings before all standings for those divisions become official.  Questions about IMCA point totals and standings should be directed to Virginia Lindsey, director of membership and points, at vlindsey@imca.com or by calling 319 472-2201, ext. 215.

BOONE, Iowa – Sixteen hours is all it took to fill the 64-team field for the Scorezit Cornhole Tournament on Sunday before the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Electronic registration began at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday and the final two-person team completed the entry process just after 7 a.m. Thursday.
