Rust is sharp in Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights IMCA Modified Tour win at Hancock County

BRITT, Iowa (July 28) – The game plan Joel Rust brought to Hancock County Speedway and the third installment of the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds played out to perfection Tuesday night. Rust led all but the opening circuit in the 25-lap contest, outrunning Ethan Braaksma and Jeremy Mills to the $1,000 checkers.  “We had a good draw, got to the lead quick and had to keep hitting our marks,” said Rust, who had taken the initial green flag from inside row two. “There were a lot of good cars here tonight and we got it done.” Rust was pulling away from the rest of the field when cautions came out on lap seven and again on lap 16, when his advantage over the second-running David Brown was nearly six seconds. Braaksma, winner of the first two tour events of the summer, started 11th and took over the runner-up spot for good on the ensuing restart. After spinning out of second on lap eight, Mills restarted at the tail and worked his [Read More]

Weaver prevails for first PASS win at Path Valley

By Frank Buhrman SPRING RUN, Pa. (July 25) – Jeffrey Weaver brought a modest Pennsylvania Sprint Series resume into Saturday’s racing at Path Valley Speedway Park, but his track record took a huge leap when the former micro sprint racer earned his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win in one of the most hotly contested feature races of 2020.  Weaver, who had a pair of fourths as his best previous PASS finishes, started the feature on the outside pole and stood up this season’s hottest PASS driver, Garrett Bard, and 2020 winners John Walp and Christian Rumsey on a night when there wasn’t a lap without a two-, three-, or even four-car battle for the lead. On every lap, Weaver looked fully at home among the giants. With Walp, who led 20 laps, and Bard fighting furiously for the lead, running lap after lap side-by-side in the middle grooves, Weaver hung onto third, maintaining a consistent ultra-low line. Just before a lap 17 caution, Weaver slipped past Bard, who was running high, and on lap [Read More]

Wahrman hoists Hobby hardware at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 24) – Duane Wahrman became the fourth different IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winners in as many events this season Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park.  Wahrman took command on the sixth of 15 rounds and slipped away from the field until Tathan Burkhart raced into second at midway. Burkhart chipped away at the lead but ran out of laps to catch Wahrman. Burkhart was second with Skeets Salazar in third.  In the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature, Dakota Sproul put on a clinic as he posted his second win of the year. Gunning into the lead at the outset, Sproul ripped the top side of the track and checked out on the field as Clay Sellard and Brendon Gemmill worked into second and third.  A late caution negated Sproul’s hefty advantage, but he slipped away with ease to post the win. Troy Burkhart worked his way past early pacesetter Chris Oliver at the midway point then held him off the rest of the way in the 15-lapper for his second IMCA Sunoco [Read More]
