BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 12, 2026) — Kollin Hibdon controlled the early stages, withstood a serious challenge from Cody Laney, and pulled away late to capture his first Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified championship during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway, collecting $10,000 for the victory.
The 40-lap Big Dance began three-wide, with Hibdon jumping to the lead on the opening circuit. Last year’s Harris Clash winner and the 2026 IMCA TV Clash on the Coast champion Ethan Braaksma stayed close in second, but Hibdon, the defending Marshalltown Speedway track champion, kept him at bay before the first caution came out on lap five.
Hibdon rocketed away on the restart as Izac Mallicoat began stalking the leader along the bottom. Hibdon was able to create some separation before another caution on lap eight.
Mallicoat again found speed on the bottom following the restart, but Hibdon was just a little better up top and maintained control.
Cody Laney moved into second on lap 12 aboard the Janssen Fabrication-owned No. 5L. The 2021 Super Nationals winner began trying to close the gap, but Hibdon continued to stretch his advantage as the green-flag run continued.
A caution on lap 15 again erased Hibdon’s lead. Mallicoat and Laney fought for second following the restart, with Laney eventually securing the position and setting his sights on Hibdon.
The two western transplant frontrunners, now calling Iowa home, began to battle as Laney reeled in Hibdon and applied pressure by lap 23. The leaders were approaching the tail end of lapped traffic when a caution on lap 27 gave them a clear track for the restart.
Laney immediately went on the offensive along the bottom and briefly nosed ahead on the backstretch, but Hibdon answered and reclaimed the advantage.
From there, the Pahrump, Nev. native began separating himself from Laney and the rest of the field and drove away to the win.
Laney settled for second, while 2007 Super Nationals winner Todd Shute charged from 10th to hold on for third at the line.
Fresh off his Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Super Nationals championship, Jake McBirnie backed it up with a fourth-place finish in the Modified Big Dance.
Two-time Harris Clash winner Joel Rust finished fifth, while 2024 Marshalltown Speedway track champion Tripp Gaylord advanced from 21st to sixth.
Two-time track champion and two-time Razor Chassis North Central Region champion Jeremy Mills raced from 17th to seventh. The 2019 California State champion and three-time Ventura Raceway track champion Trevor Fitz was eighth. January’s Texas Showdown winner Steven Whiteaker Jr. finished ninth.
Three-division Super Nationals winner Dylan Thornton was the hard charger, racing from dead last in 30th to complete the top 10.
Earlier in the day, drivers locked in from Friday’s qualifying tossed bags in the NAPA Fan Zone to determine their starting positions in the outside lane of Saturday’s Big Dance.
Braaksma defeated Fitz to secure the outside of the front row, with Fitz starting in the outside position of row two. Whiteaker defeated Colby Fett for the outside of row three, putting Fett in the outside position of row four.
Nick Meyer defeated Troy Morris III for the outside of row five, with Morris starting in the outside position of row six. Gaylord defeated Troy Foulger for the outside of row seven, putting Foulger in the outside position of row eight.
Baca Goes Flag-to-Flag in Rage Chassis Race of Champions
Chaz Baca Jr. took command on the opening lap and never relinquished the top spot on his way to victory in the Rage Chassis Race of Champions.
Baca, originally from Arizona and now living in Iowa, brought out his two-time National champion credentials early by taking control before a caution slowed the field on lap two.
Baca took off again on the restart and remained out front the rest of the way to secure his first career Race of Champions victory.
Jeremy Mills finished second, while Dylan Thornton was third.
Cody Laney finished fourth, with 2020 Close Racing Supply Eastern Region champion Mitchell Hunt completing the top five.
