Stock Car Stampede Roars Into Jamestown on Sept. 25-26 for 55th Running

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Aug. 31, 2026) — The biggest racing weekend of the season at Jamestown Speedway is almost here as the 55th annual Stock Car Stampede takes over the North Dakota oval Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26.

Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds, Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars headline both nights of the Stampede. Racing begins at 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday, with the format following the successful programs used in recent years.

Fans unable to attend can watch both nights live on IMCA TV affiliate Dacotah Speedway TV.

A lucrative purse awaits competitors in all three IMCA divisions. The Modifieds race for $3,055 to win and $255 to start, while Stock Cars and Northern SportMods each race for $2,055 to win and $175 to start.

Friday night’s program consists of heat and dash races, setting the top eight starting positions for each feature. Consolation events and A features Saturday determine the 2026 Stock Car Stampede champions.

The Stampede has long been one of North Dakota’s marquee dirt track events, and the IMCA divisions have crowned some of the sport’s best in recent years.

Jeremy Keller won the Modified portion in 2025, following Kollin Hibdon in 2024, Travis Tooley in 2023 and Shawn Strand in 2022.

Recent Stock Car winners include Troy Heupel in 2025, Jonny Carter in 2024, Gabriel Deschamp in 2023 and Luke Krogh in 2022.

Ryan Restad captured the Northern SportMod victory in 2025, following Deschamp in 2024, Cole Suckow in 2023 and Krogh in 2022.

Camping opens on the Jamestown Speedway grounds at noon Wednesday, Sept. 23. More than 200 spots will be available, including more than 100 with electrical hookups and 50 with water hookups. Camping is $25 per night.

Race cars may also begin lining up on the grounds at noon Wednesday, with haulers receiving numbers determining their order to enter the pits when gates open at noon Friday.

Stampede weekend includes several activities away from the race track. A cornhole tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, while a free breakfast courtesy of the Christian Motorcycle Club will be served in the Beer Gardens Saturday morning.

A craft and vendor show is also scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the Striped Fair Building across from the Beer Gardens.

Schmitz scores IMCA Modified first in opener at Jamestown

By Becca Pelkey JAMESTOWN, N.D. (May 25, 2024) – Logan Schmitz raced to the first win of his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified career, on the first night of the new season at Jamestown Speedway. Three-time and defending track champion John Corell started on the pole and led the field to the green flag in the Saturday night finale but outside pole sitter Schmitz, wasted no time grabbing the lead. Kollin Hibdon, who started ninth, quickly climbed his way through the field and challenged Schmitz for the lead. Contact between the front pair brought out the first yellow on lap six and resulted in Hibdon getting charged with the caution. Schmitz was able to continue but cautions then slowed the feature. Oh baby, what a race on opening night at Jamestown!

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (May 25, 2024) – Jamestown Speedway is the track where Becca and Jessup Pelkey met, where they got engaged, and where they spend most of their Saturday nights during the race season. So when it came time to hold the gender reveal to announce whether their first child, due in early fall, would be a boy or girl, Jamestown was the obvious location. Close friends Scott Gartner, who drives a red Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, and Chris Ritter, driver of a blue WISSOTA Street Stock, agreed to help with the reveal, held during the May 25 opening night show. The Pelkeys got a card, with the baby’s gender written on it, in a sealed envelope from their obstetrician. Dates, locations announced for 2022 Corral Sales Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – Plans have been finalized for the Corral Sales Dakota Classic Tour with IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars after a recent meeting with the six host tracks. Due to mandated Covid vaccination requirements at the international border, Estevan, Sask., Motor Speedway has decided not to take a tour date despite an open border. This decision meant one track would be allowed to take an additional date to keep the traditional six consecutive date series format that has been popular with drivers and fans over the tour’s long history. Dacotah Speedway in Mandan stepped up to take the extra date. The tour will start in Jamestown on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Jamestown Speedway. The series then heads north to the North Dakota State Fairgrounds and Nodak Speedway in Minot on Sunday, July 10.
