VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2026) — Todd Shute survived a thrilling late three-wide battle to capture Sunday night’s Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature at Benton County Speedway during the Mike Benson and Scott Beauregard Memorial.
Shute raced to the front early before Drew Janssen closed the gap as the laps wound down. Following a restart, Jacob Snyder joined the fight, making it a three-car battle for the lead. Shute held his line and edged back ahead before pulling away over the final laps to score the victory.
The Norwalk driver earned his 12th Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season and his first at Benton County Speedway in 2026. The feature served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier, but Shute was already on the eligibility list to attempt to qualify for the event during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Janssen finished second, Snyder crossed the stripe third, Troy Cordes was fourth, and Jesse Belez charged from 13th to fifth to earn hard charger honors.
Kyle Olson Earns Stock Car Victory
Kyle Olson raced to victory in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature after taking the lead from Riley Hanson in the opening laps and steadily distancing himself from the field.
The Cedar Rapids driver earned his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with all three coming at Benton County Speedway. The feature served as a B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational qualifier, earning Olson eligibility to attempt to qualify for the event during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
John Oliver Jr. finished second, Damon Murty crossed the stripe third, Racer Hulin advanced from 10th to fourth to earn hard charger honors, and Nathan Wood completed the top five.
Tony Olson Dominates Northern SportMods
Tony Olson took command early in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature and was never seriously challenged.
The Cedar Rapids driver earned his third victory of the season, with all three coming at Benton County Speedway.
Ben Chapman finished second, Kyle Olson was third, Brett Thomas charged from ninth to fourth to earn hard charger honors, and Joe Docekal rounded out the top five.
Richardson Charges to Hobby Stock Victory
Tucker Richardson worked past early leader Justin Stander to claim the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock lead before driving away over the closing laps.
The Morning Sun driver earned his sixth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season and his first at Benton County Speedway in 2026.
Stander finished second, Joren Fisher charged from 12th to third, Leah Wroten crossed the stripe fourth, and Jake Kaiser completed the top five. Brayden Wood earned hard charger honors going from 23rd to 16th.
Grady Leads Sport Compact Main
Cristian Grady led all but one lap of the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature, reclaiming the top spot one circuit after Tyler Fiebelkorn briefly slipped past him on lap six.
The victory was Grady’s fourth of the season and his third at Benton County Speedway.
Lukas Rick charged from eighth to finish second and earn hard charger honors, Fiebelkorn crossed the stripe third, Robert Rundle was fourth, and Josh Regenold completed the top five.
