DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 24, 2026) — The streak continued Friday night at Davenport Speedway as Tommy Elston became the seventh different winner in seven Sunoco IMCA Late Model features this season, highlighting the final race before the Mississippi Valley Fair.
Making his first Davenport start of the year, the Keokuk driver charged from 12th to capture his eighth victory of the season.
Jesse Bodin led the opening 10 laps before surrendering the lead to Travis Denning. Denning’s time out front was brief, however, as Elston powered into the lead on lap 13 and drove away to the checkered flag.
Blaise Lewis finished second while Denning settled for third. Logan Veloz crossed the stripe fourth, and Cruz Birkhofer advanced from 15th to complete the top five.
Dave Wadsager, Doug Burkhead and Gary Webb won the heat races.
Diercks Charges Through Field for Modified Victory
Spencer Diercks sliced through traffic to score his fourth Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified victory of the season at Davenport.
The Davenport driver started eighth and steadily worked his way toward the front before taking the lead from Eric Barnes. Once out front, Diercks pulled away to win by more than two seconds.
Barnes finished second, Matt Werner was third, Shane Paris took fourth and Brandon Durbin completed the top five.
The victory was also Diercks’ 15th of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
Chapman Doubles Up with First Stock Car Victory
Ben Chapman enjoyed a memorable evening, collecting his first career Sunoco IMCA Stock Car victory after also winning the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature earlier in the program.
The Clarence driver worked through Jacob Ellithorpe, David Brandies and Kodey Miles before taking command. Miles, who had led much of the race, settled for second.
Ellithorpe finished third, Brandies was fourth, and Jeremy Gustaf completed the top five.
The victory added Chapman to the list of 2026 EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region winners.
Chapman also prevailed in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods after a caution-filled 15-lap feature.
Chapman led the final nine laps to secure his second straight Davenport victory.
Trevor Noonan charged from 12th to finish second and earn hard charger honors, while Owen Wilcox advanced from 14th to third. Hudson Morris climbed from 11th to fourth, and Nick Hixson rounded out the top five.
The win was Chapman’s third of the season in the SportMods and his second at Davenport Speedway.
Miles Makes It Five at Davenport
Karter Miles continued his outstanding season in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, leading all 15 laps after starting sixth.
The Bernard driver picked up his fifth Davenport Speedway victory of the season while collecting his 10th B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region triumph of 2026. Half of those regional wins have come at Davenport.
Randy LaMar advanced from eighth to finish second, Carson Butt charged from ninth to third, Josh Starr raced from 10th to fourth, and Christian Jordan completed the top five.
Starr earned hard charger honors after advancing six positions.
