Winebarger Wins Fourth Modified Nationals Crown at Grays Harbor

ELMA, Wash. (July 18, 2026) — Collen Winebarger etched his name further into Grays Harbor Raceway history Saturday night, winning the Modified Nationals to capture his fourth career victory in the prestigious event and tie Nick Trenchard for the most wins all-time.

The Corbett, Oregon, driver piloted the Swan Island Sheet Metal No. 99X to the $7,500 victory in the 40-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature, which served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier. Winebarger had already secured eligibility to attempt to qualify for the event to be held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in September.

California’s Ethan Killingsworth paced the opening 16 laps after taking the lead on the traditional three-wide start before Winebarger powered around him on the high side. Once out front, Winebarger set a torrid pace the rest of the way in the caution-free feature to earn his second DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season.

Eston Whisler closed late to finish second, followed by Jesse Williamson, Killingsworth and Matt Sanders.

Bricen James earned hard charger honors, racing from 18th to ninth. Tyson Blood went from 12th to eighth, while Ian Whisler advanced from 19th to complete the top 10.

Ian Whisler and Rory Smith each won B Main features.

47 IMCA Modifieds were in attendance for the event.

Williamson wins IMCA Modified battle at Grays Harbor, Winebarger wins Wild West Shootout war

By Ben Deatherage ELMA, Wash. (Aug. 14) – Jesse Williamson won the battle while Collen Winebarger won the war Saturday at Grays Harbors Raceway. Williamson raced to his third $1,000 Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout victory of the week in the series’ sole Washington State stop of the week. Winebarger, a three-time Shootout winner as well, ended in third, good enough to clinch his first ever Shootout title. After leading the field the first lap, Winebarger set an ever quicker pace before he was caught and overtaken on lap 17 by Grey Ferrando. Ferrando was the trailblazer for a bit of time until he had some fast company with the likes of Jesse Williamson. Williamson seized the top-place position on lap 26 only to see Ferrando take the coveted top spot back on the 30th circuit. James Conquers Wild West Coast Modified Clash Finale at Grays Harbor

(May 24, 2026) — Bricen James made a late Saturday night decision to tow north to Grays Harbor Raceway pay off in a big way, capturing the 7th annual West Coast Modified Clash finale and the $2,500 top prize in Sunday’s Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature. After one of the wildest B Main finishes of the weekend, 24 Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds rolled onto the 3/8-mile clay oval for the Memorial Day weekend finale. The initial start was called back after an incident deeper in the field. On the second attempt, Saturday winner and polesitter Grey Ferrando tangled with Collen Winebarger entering turn one, sending Ferrando spinning and forcing him to restart at the rear of the field. (July 14, 2023) – Night number one of Grays Harbor Raceway’s 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals saw Jesse Williamson win the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Race of Champions while Trevor Points prevailed in the $1,000 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main. Twenty-one cars set the field for 25 laps during the Race of Champions, made up of 2023 feature winners and track champions across the Northwest and Canada. Williamson and Jason Tole set the front row. Williamson struck first going into turn one, taking the lead while Jason Beaulieu moved into second and Collen Winebarger made it a battle for the runner-up position. Jochim Breaks Through in Dacotah Stock Car Feature

(July 17, 2026) — Fresh off the Dakota Classic Modified Tour, Chris Tuchscherer and Brennor Grinstead led the field to the green flag in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Dacotah Speedway. Tuchscherer and Grinstead battled fiercely for the lead, swapping positions several times while Andrew Jochim patiently lurked in third. Jochim made it a three-car fight on lap eight, throwing a series of sliders to wrestle away the top spot. Once out front, Jochim steadily pulled away as point leader Geoff Hellman worked past Grinstead for third and began chasing down Tuchscherer for the runner-up position. After enduring a frustrating Dakota Classic Modified Tour, luck finally turned in Jochim’s favor as the Harwood driver cruised to his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with his wins coming at two different tracks. Harker Steals Modified Thriller on Final Corner at Eagle

(July 18, 2026) — Oppressive heat pushed the start of Saturday’s Duel in the Dirt at Eagle Raceway back one hour, but the wait proved worthwhile as Shawn Harker used a last-corner slider to win the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature by just 0.04 seconds. Brandon Verbeek led the opening six laps before Nate Thompson moved past him for the top spot on lap seven. Adam Wasserman continued his march toward the front, taking third on lap 10 and then moving around Verbeek for second. Wasserman wrestled the lead away from Thompson with five laps remaining while 12th-starting Harker continued working forward. Harker moved into fourth with three to go before a pair of late cautions set up a green-white-checkered finish. Harker passed Thompson on the first restart before another caution restacked the field. Smith Scores Dramatic Late Model Victory at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (July 18, 2026) —The Sunoco IMCA Late Models capped another outstanding night of racing Saturday at Maquoketa Speedway with a thrilling finish. The perfectly prepared racing surface at the Jackson County Fairgrounds quarter-mile allowed competitors to race two and three-wide throughout the evening, producing an exciting 25-lap feature that wasn’t decided until the final few feet. Steve Johnson paced the field early before Dalton Simonsen took over the top spot. Tenth-starting Blaise Lewis worked the extreme low groove to take the lead with 10 laps remaining and appeared headed to victory. A late caution, however, erased Lewis’ advantage and set up a dramatic four-lap sprint to the finish. Lewis hugged the bottom while Dustin Smith powered around the top and Ron Klein repeatedly threw sliders at the leaders.
