BOONE, Iowa (June 20, 2026) — Brayden Shepherd led all 18 laps but still had to withstand a furious late charge from Mike Smith to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Boone Speedway.
The Altoona driver held command throughout the contest before Smith, who advanced nine positions, closed rapidly in the closing laps. Shepherd maintained a slim advantage and secured the victory at the checkered flag for his second win of the season at two different tracks.
Smith settled for second, followed by Curtis Veber, Ryan King and defending track champion Dusty Masolini.
Robey Rallies for First Modified Win of 2026
Ethan Robey charged to victory in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature for his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season.
Brandon Leeman led the opening 14 laps before Robey, of Ames, took command and drove away for the triumph. Leeman faded to 11th by the finish.
Ronn Lauritzen crossed the stripe second, while Jeremy Mills, Todd Shute and Trevor Fitz completed the top five.
Smiths Sweep Boone Stock Car Features
Doug Smith advanced nine positions to win the first Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature of the evening.
Thor Anderson paced the opening laps before Smith, of Lake City, worked his way to the front and took over on lap 10. The victory was Smith’s third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season and his second at Iowa’s Action Track.
Tyler Pickett rallied six spots to finish second ahead of Matthew Meinecke. Jay Schmidt delivered one of the night’s best drives, advancing 18 positions to finish fourth, while Anderson rounded out the top five.
Devin Smith made it a Smith family sweep in the second Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature.
Kyle Everts led the first nine laps before Smith, also from Lake City, took command on lap 10 and raced to the victory. The win was his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region triumph of 2026, with all three coming at Boone Speedway.
Jimmy Gustin finished second, followed by Michael Jaennette, Blake Lehman and John Watson.
Fifty IMCA Stock Cars signed in, warranting split features.
Gifford and Young Split Boone Hobby Stock Features
Wayne Gifford emerged victorious in a Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature that featured four different leaders.
Michael Johnson Jr., Braden Gifford and Will Smith all spent time at the front before Braden Gifford spun while leading in turn three. Wayne Gifford inherited the top spot and held on for the win.
The Boone driver earned his second B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season at two different tracks.
Will Smith finished second, Corey VanderWilt was third, Max Pogeler advanced 11 positions to finish fourth and Ben Newhouse gained 12 spots to round out the top five.
Joey Young advanced eight positions and took the lead on lap six en route to victory in the second Hobby Stock feature.
The Indianola driver overtook Kendall Madsen and remained out front the rest of the way to secure his second B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season at two different facilities.
Alex Yoerger finished second ahead of Tanner Jones, Matt McDonald and Shane Butler.
Forty-two IMCA Hobby Stocks were on hand, allowing split features to be run.
May Charges Through Field for Mod Lite Victory
Josh May stormed through the field to win the Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite feature.
The Des Moines racer advanced 10 positions and took the lead from Landon Elliott on lap four before driving away for his fifth victory of the season and second at Boone Speedway in 2026.
Austin Gray also advanced 10 positions to finish second. Elliott was third, followed by Bryan Zehm and Jaxon Carr.
