JAMESTOWN, N.D. (June 3, 2026) — Jamestown Speedway will honor one of the most influential figures in its history when the 7th Annual Don Gumke Racers’ Memorial takes center stage on Saturday, June 6.
Presented by Wilhelm’s and North Star Buick & GMC Dealers and I-29 Trailer Sales, the special event will feature Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds racing for a $2,222 top prize in memory of Don Gumke and his iconic No. 2* Modified.
The event will also serve as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier, giving the winner an opportunity to earn eligibility for the 2026 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Gumke, who passed away in January of 2020 at the age of 66, left a lasting impact on the racing community throughout North Dakota and beyond. A fierce competitor behind the wheel, he later helped transform Jamestown Speedway into one of the region’s premier dirt track facilities.
Alongside his partner Joanne and Keith Veil, Gumke helped build the speedway’s reputation as a destination for both racers and fans. His leadership, dedication, and passion for the sport continue to be felt throughout the racing community.
The annual memorial race has become one of the most meaningful events on the Jamestown Speedway schedule, celebrating a man who inspired generations of racers and was widely respected for both his competitiveness and character.
In addition to honoring Gumke, the event will recognize several members of the racing family who have passed away in recent years. Memorial stickers will be available at the red trailer and will include the names of Terry Voeltz, Larry Christensen, and Doug Gumke, Don’s brother.
Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified competitors will race for the $2,222 winner’s share with a $50 car-and-driver entry fee. Numerous contingency awards will also be distributed throughout the evening, including Hard Charger honors, Longest Tow awards, fan giveaways, event stickers, and additional special prizes.
Pit gates open at 4:00 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5:30. Draw cutoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., followed by pre-race ceremonies at 6:50 and racing at 7:00.
Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $5 for students ages 13-17, and free for children ages 12 and under. A limited number of advance tickets are available at M&H and Neighborhood Grocery in Jamestown.
