Cody Laney Leads the Way at Davenport’s Greg Durbin Memorial

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 27, 2025) — The Greg Durbin Memorial was run Saturday at Davenport Speedway for the second straight night of racing at the historic facility. The featured class was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, competing for a $3,000 top prize.

That prize went home with Cody Laney. Starting from the pole, Laney was pressured early by Tony VonDresky and Zane DeVilbiss, then fended off a late challenge from Tim Ward. Laney led all 38 laps to take the win.

DeVilbiss settled for second with Ward in third. Trevor Fitz charged from seventh to fourth in the final two laps, while Matt Werner came all the way from 20th to finish fifth.

Hunter Longnecker made it back-to-back wins in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods. Kevin Goben chased Longnecker all 15 laps and had to settle for second. Levi Heath came from deep in the field to claim third, with Brandt Cole and Dakota Cole rounding out the top five.

Bradly Graham also made it two in a row, topping the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks. Graham battled with Blair Kriegel in the early going before pulling away for good. Jordan Miles worked his way into second, while Kile Vohringer, Sheldon Hunter and Randy LaMar completed the top five.

Dan Keltner controlled the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature from start to finish. Randy Bryan finished a distant second, with Alex Eischeid taking third. Mike Morrow ran fourth and Grant Anderson crossed in fifth.

$250 Sunoco bonus Friday night in Davenport

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the potential winner of the main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this Friday at Davenport. The next installment of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the August 13 Late Model winner at Davenport Speedway. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, and most recently to Dave Eckrich last Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track.

Glover Scores First Davenport Win

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 18, 2025) — Curtis Glover of Knoxville came away with the win in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature in exciting style. The 25-lap main event started with Mitch Morris jumping out to the early lead. On lap 16, a bobble by Morris would drop him back to third, behind Glover and Matt Ryan. The top three would finish in that order. It is Glover’s first victory at Davenport. Ryan had to settle for second after starting in the eighth position. Morris held on for third. Spencer Diercks dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Diercks started on the outside pole and led all 20 laps of the race that went caution free, his first triumph this year in the Razor Chassis North Central Region for the hometown pilot. Veloz Scores Third Davenport Late Model Victory of 2025

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Logan Veloz became the first Sunoco IMCA Late Model driver to earn three victories this season at Davenport Speedway. After a long lay-off for the Mississippi Valley Fair, it was back to racing at the facility. Veloz started seventh and moved up to third after five laps. He was in second by lap nine and passed Clay Simpson for the lead on lap fifteen. The win was Veloz’s 10th overall of the year in the Late Model,. Bryce Garnhart would also pass Simpson in the final laps for second. Simpson held on for third. Dierks Doubles Up at Davenport in Modifieds Brad Dierks picked up the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Brad had to pass early race leader Jace Eckrich to grab the top spot. While those two were dicing for the lead, Spencer Diercks was slowly working his way forward from a sixth-row starting position. Auctions and Contingencies Add Extra Excitement to Super Nationals; Ward and McBirnie Score Big Totals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 26, 2025) — On Saturday night, Sept. 6, after all championship features had been decided at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, the annual auction in the NAPA Auto Parts Fan Zone took center stage. Engines, chassis, and more went across the block, adding to the excitement of championship night and boosting the haul for two of the week’s biggest winners. For two of those champions, the night got even bigger. Tim Ward’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory was worth $17,000 with his $10,000 winner’s purse and a Harris Modified chassis that sold for $7,000. Jake McBirnie’s Sunoco IMCA Stock Car championship totaled $26,600 thanks to his $7,500 payday plus Terminator and B&B Racing chassis that brought $10,200 and $8,900. Preregistration Opens Oct. 1 for Fourth Annual IMCA TV Clash on the Coast; SportMods Added in 2026

For the first time ever, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods will join Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars in the Gulf Coast’s premier early-season showcase. Abbey Charges Late to Mid-America Stock Car Championship Win at Batesville

(Sept. 27, 2025) — The $7,500-to-win Mid-America Stock Car Championship produced a thriller Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway, with Jeffrey Abbey of Rhome, Texas, charging late to capture his first-ever win in the marquee event. Abbey also pocketed a $500 bonus for displaying a Schoenfeld Headers logo on his car, bringing his total payday to $8,000. Peyton Taylor paced the opening circuits in the Brandon & Jodi Simon-owned no. 20PT, building a three-second advantage before a lap-16 caution erased his lead. Taylor pulled away again on the restart, but Iowa’s Dallon Murty, a two-time Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner, closed in from second.
