Lamphere Takes Third Annual Billy Ward Memorial at Thunder Mountain

(April 30, 2022) – After a solid season in 2021, the off-season was not kind to Eddie Sites and his brother, Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Precision Hydraulic & Oil defending champion Brad Sites. On Feb. 13th, their race shop burned to the ground, causing them to lose much of their racing organization. (June 30, 2023) – Brad Sites didn’t let anyone stay close the last four times around the track in winning the Friday night Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by MR Grafix main event at The Hill Speedway. Sites’ first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified tour win of 2023 paid $1,000 and earned Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for the 2021 series champion as well. Rodney Morgan, Gary Roberts, Matt Benjamin and Keith Lamphere completed the top five. Roberts picked up the Flow Force Pressure Services Hard Charger award after coming from the 13th starting position. The show at Monroeton saw 20 drivers vie in a 25-lap feature and Clayton Tarabori and Gary Lamphere brought the field to green. Tarabori led the first three circuits before giving way to Jake Maynard. Maynard, in turn, held the point until Sites motored past on lap 10. With a full schedule set to see eight events at five different tracks, drivers are eager to begin the inaugural season of the series. With nearly 30 cars registered for the year, large car counts and great racing are on the horizon for a big year. Kicking off this year’s campaign will be one of the biggest races of the season, the Sean Lias Memorial at Susquehanna, Pa.’s Penn Can Speedway slated for May 30. This event will pay homage to one of Pennsylvania’s own who was a multi-time champion across tracks and the Northeast region under the IMCA sanction in the 1990’s and 2000’s, scoring 231 feature wins in his career.
