BRAINERD, Minn. (May 31, 2025) — Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact action at North Central Speedway delivered the finish of the night. Colton Lodermeier jumped to the early lead and looked to have things in hand during the 15-lap main event. With four laps remaining, Hunter Carlson broke a right rear axle and nearly rolled, but safely landed the car and brought out a caution.
On the restart, defending track champion Baylen Rooker moved around Gabe Ridlon into second, then quickly challenged Lodermeier on the outside. The two raced side-by-side for the final four laps — Lodermeier glued to the bottom, Rooker right against the cushion. Coming out of turn four on the final lap, Rooker got just enough grip to edge ahead by mere inches at the line for his second win of the season. Ridlon, continuing a strong sophomore year, finished third.
Anderson Claims Second Hobby Stock Win by a Bumper
Veteran Mike Nelson and rookie Andrew Malinowski led the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock field to green in their feature, with Nelson taking early control and stretching his advantage. Tom Anderson worked into second and slowly reeled Nelson in, lap after lap. With four laps remaining, a caution flew as Tim Otterness and Junior Kohl tangled in turn two.
On the restart, Anderson got to the bottom and stayed alongside Nelson. Off turn four coming to the checkers, Nelson wiggled just slightly, and Anderson pounced — using a strong run on the inside to win it by a bumper and grab his second win of the year at North Central and in B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region competition. Mark Johnson rallied from eighth to finish third.
Fletcher Lights Up the Night with Modified Victory
In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, Brett Hines and Erick Thiesse brought the field to green, with Thiesse taking early command and holding strong through a pair of early cautions. But with eight to go, veteran Shawn Fletcher found traction on the low side and powered past Thiesse into the top spot.
With four laps left, A.J. Viehauser moved into second, and the top two pulled away. But as the white flag flew, fire erupted under Thiesse’s no. 15T machine. With the driver safe and the fire quickly handled, the race was called, giving Fletcher the win, Viehauser second, and Pete Hines third. It was Fletcher’s second win of the season at NCS and in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
Jordan Earns First SportMod Win of 2025
Kaleb Ruikka took the early lead in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main after starting on the outside of the front row with Anthony Sabinash. Defending track champion Jake Jordan worked his way around Ruikka on lap five to take the lead, while Chris Siercks soon followed into second.
Just one caution slowed the race, and Jordan never looked back, picking up his first win of the 2025 season. Siercks finished second, and Bud Martini rounded out the top three.
Before the features even hit the track, the night was already one to remember. The North Central racing family came together in a powerful show of support for fellow racer David Dosh, who is currently facing a serious medical situation. Nearly $1,400 was raised to assist the Dosh family, and more than 50 cars participated in an emotional tribute lap to honor one of the most respected and well-liked figures in the pits. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the night so meaningful.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Dirt Race Central. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
