DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 16, 2025) — Davenport Speedway hosted another $1,000-to-win Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature on Friday night, with the winner earning a spot on the eligibility list to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational later this summer. Brad Dierks capitalized on his pole position, leading all twenty laps to capture the flag-to-flag victory and secure his All-Star eligibility to try and qualify for the race at the 2025 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Dierks was untouchable from the drop of the green, building a comfortable lead and never looking back as he cruised to the win, his first this season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Ben Chapman started alongside Dierks on the front row and pressured the leader in the early stages. Still, as the laps wound down, Dierks maintained his advantage, preventing Chapman from making any significant challenge. Meanwhile, Spencer Diercks methodically worked his way from sixth to third.
Veloz Cruises to Second Straight Late Model Win
Logan Veloz made it back-to-back wins in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model division. Veloz started seventh and vaulted into the lead on lap three. From that point, Logan ran away from the field. He finished with a seven-second lead on the second-place finisher, Matt Ryan.
Ryan started ninth and worked steadily forward, but could not get through the traffic as fast as the leader. Chris Lawrence finished third after leading laps one and two.
Powell Breaks Through for First SportMod Victory at Davenport
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main had everyone on the edge of their seats. Long-time SportMod racer Rance Powell scored his first Davenport feature win Friday night. Powell started third but quickly moved into first, where he led all fifteen laps for the victory.
Ryan Reed started ninth and quickly charged up to second, but was unable to pass Powell. Cole Suckow made the long trip from Cresco, Iowa to take third.
LaMar’s High-Side Heroics Lead to Hobby Stock Triumph
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks saw Randy LaMar take his second feature win of the season. Randy led the first four laps of the race, then fell back to second, behind Corey VanDerwilt. The Lynnville, Iowa driver led laps five through eight. On lap nine, LaMar sent his car into turn three high and hard and came away with the lead he held all the way to the checkers. It was LaMar’s third overall win in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. VanDerwilt took second with Daniel Wauters third.
Masengarb Grabs Mod Lite Win in Return to Davenport
The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites were back on track again. Jason Masengarb started fourth, grabbed the lead on lap two, and led the rest of the way to the checkers. Blake Gonzales gave chase but had to settle for second. Josh May started in the fourth row, but worked his way to third.
