Logan Veloz Takes First Late Model Win at Davenport

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the potential winner of the main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this Friday at Davenport. The next installment of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the August 13 Late Model winner at Davenport Speedway.  Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, and most recently to Dave Eckrich last Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson.  IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track. 

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 10, 2023) – When the checkers fly Friday night at Davenport Speedway, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event winner will make his or her way to victory lane to accept a trophy and a $2,000 check. The May 12 feature for The Class Too Tough To Tame also earns the winner B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. A minimum of $250 will be paid to start that race with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and Iowa State, but no track, points to be awarded. IMCA Sunoco Late Models race for $700 to win, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds for $600 and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods for $500 to win that evening. By Mike McGuire  DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 23, 2021) – Friday was Koehler Electric Season Opener at the Davenport Speed­way. With extra money on the line in two divisions, the competition was intense. The IMCA Sunoco Late Models provided the closest finish of the evening. Their 25-lap feature started with Andy Nezworski grabbing the early lead from the pole. Nezworski built up a lead until the caution flags started to fly on lap eight. Chuck Hanna used the race’s final restart to propel himself up to second and then used the high side to reel in Nezworski. As the leaders encountered lapped traffic, Hanna drew alongside the leader. At the checkers, it was Nezworski by mere inches over Hanna. Justin Kay fended off Matt Ryan for a third place finish. Fred Remley was a distant fifth. Spencer Diercks led flag-to-flag in the IMCA Modified main. Diercks started on the outside pole and went directly to the top of the racetrack.
