EDNA, Texas (Aug. 8, 2026) — The Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series presented by On Demand Shirts returned to Texana Raceway Park for their annual “Back to School Bash” where 15 Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds signed in for the 20-lap main event. Pre-race showers left the 5/16-mile oval tricky and slick through the early portion of the program, and prompted series and track officials to move the STIMS feature to the final slot on the card for the evening.

DIY Equipment Sales and Rental Heat One went to Garrett Gregory, who held off Steven Whiteaker Jr. to grab the top starting spot for the feature. Sundowner Performance Diesel Heat Two saw its lone caution on lap four when Brian Machicek spun in turn four and collected Trevor Egbert. Jared Maupin took the win once the field went back to green, with Johnny Torres crossing second.

Gregory and Maupin brought the field to the green flag for the feature, and it took eight laps before the first caution flew, with Brian Machicek and Chris Gallien getting together in turn one. The field slowed again a lap later when Cody Leonard’s car got snug in turn three, collecting Trent Beaver and Chris Carroll. Beaver and Carroll were able to continue, but Leonard’s night ended there.

Maupin led the rest of the way from his front-row starting spot, picking up his fifth STIMS victory of the 2026 season and sixth GRT Race Cars South Central Region win. Gregory finished second, Torres was third, Whiteaker Jr. placed fourth, and Chris Carroll completed the top five.

The race served as a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational at this September’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Maupin was already eligible to attempt to qualify for the event based on previous victories. Trevor Egbert won the Mike Terry Motorsports Hard Charger Award moving up seven positions.

The Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series presented by On Demand Shirts returns to action Sept. 4-5 with a two-night stop at Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas.
