WHITE CITY, Ore. (July 23, 2026) — The second annual Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout brings the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds back to Southern Oregon Speedway Aug. 14-15 for a $10,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start spectacular presented by Best Homes Storage.
The two-day event carries a $250 entry fee and honors the memory of R. Charles Snyder, Bruce Rayburn and the many other late legends who helped shape the history of racing at Southern Oregon Speedway.
The Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout debuted in 2025, when Ethan Braaksma collected the inaugural $10,000 victory. This year’s winner will also receive a custom Legends of Dirt guitar, continuing one of the event’s most distinctive victory lane traditions.
A test and tune opens the weekend Thursday, Aug. 13. The track will be reserved from 6-8 p.m. for Legends of Dirt competitors. Open practice for any other divisions follows from 8-10 p.m., with teams participating only in the open session being asked not to arrive before 7 p.m.
Modified qualifying begins Friday, Aug. 14. Drivers will draw a pill at the gate or during check-in to determine their qualifying order before competing in two sets of heat races.
The first set of heats will start straight up, while the second set will use a complete invert. Points accumulated through qualifying and the heat race finishes will set the lineup for Friday night’s qualifier feature, with the top 10 finishers locking into Saturday’s $10,000-to-win Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout.
Saturday’s program will feature D, C and B mains, or multiple B mains depending on the final car count. Ten additional drivers will race their way into the Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout through the consolation events, joining the 10 drivers who locked in on Friday to complete the first 20 starting positions. Promoter’s provisionals will then be added, creating a feature field of at least 21 cars and a maximum of 22. Before the main event, the Top 10 Challenge will determine the starting order for the 10 drivers who earned their way into the feature on Friday.
In addition to the lucrative purse, the winner will become eligible to try and qualify for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, to be held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in September. Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region and Oregon State points will also be awarded.
A variety of contingency prizes will be awarded throughout the field during the weekend. Contributing sponsors include Superior Fuel Cells, Performance Bodies & Parts, Aero Race Wheels, Rugged Radios, Triple Nickel Motorsports & Media, Anderson’s Concrete & Construction Trucking, Carson Oil and several additional industry partners.
