JACKSON, Minn. (July 9, 2026) — Matt Johnson powered to his first Jackson Motorplex victory of the season Thursday night, taking command on lap seven and pulling away to win the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature during Round 3 of the Heiman Fire Equipment Mayhem Summer Series.
Johnson, of St. Peter, started second and quickly settled into contention behind early leader Hunter Hanson. After Hanson paced the opening six laps, Johnson made the winning move on lap seven and steadily built his advantage.
When the checkered flag waved after 20 laps, Johnson held a commanding 2.889-second margin over Trevor Serbus, who charged from seventh to second. Andrew Sullivan completed the podium, while Hanson settled for fourth after leading the opening circuits. Lee Goos Jr. rounded out the top five.
The victory was Johnson’s fifth RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car win of the 2026 season. His other four triumphs have all come at Arlington Raceway.
Owen Carlson also turned in a notable drive, advancing from the 14th starting position to finish eighth.
Brandon Bosma, Serbus, Johnson and Nate Barger won the heat races, while Corbin Erickson claimed the B Main.
31 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars were on hand for the night.
