Inaugural Cowboy Jim Kennedy Memorial Set for August 7 at Clinton County Speedway

MILL HALL, Pa. (June 24, 2026) — Clinton County Speedway will honor one of Pennsylvania’s most beloved RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car competitors when the inaugural Cowboy Jim Kennedy Memorial is held on Friday, August 7.

The special event will be contested on what would have been Kennedy’s 92nd birthday and will celebrate the life and legacy of a racer whose impact on the sport stretched across generations.

“We are honored to have the family’s blessing to host the inaugural Cowboy Jim Kennedy Memorial Race,” said Clinton County Speedway promoter Jason McCahan.

Kennedy, who passed away on April 2 at the age of 91, began his racing career in 1958 and remained one of the most respected figures in central Pennsylvania motorsports. A longtime RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car competitor, he embodied the working-class spirit that has long defined grassroots racing.

“He was an inspiration to many and the definition of a RaceSaver Sprint Car driver — a working guy who was able to compete,” McCahan said. “This is a great tribute to him.”

McCahan added that support for the event has already been overwhelming.

“We’ve had a lot of people who were touched by him,” he said.

The RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars will race for a minimum of $2,000 to win and $300 to start, with organizers continuing to secure additional sponsorship and contingency awards that could increase the purse.

Family members of Kennedy are expected to be in attendance as the racing community comes together to celebrate the life of a local legend.

Among the early sponsors supporting the memorial event are Rapid Race Fuels, River Valley Builders, Dunkle Farms, Tebbs Bros. Landscaping, and The Crippled Bear Inn.

Lineups will be determined by time trials. Pit gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps scheduled for 7 p.m. and qualifying set to begin at 7:30.

Clinton County Speedway to Crown RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car Champion in ’26

(Jan. 16, 2025) — Clinton County Speedway will take the next step in its Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing involvement in 2026 by crowning a RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car track champion. Traditionally, Clinton County Speedway’s role in the IMCA program has come through various IMCA Sprint Car Special Series events throughout Pennsylvania. Beginning in 2026, the 1/3-mile clay oval will offer a full points-paying schedule, giving drivers the opportunity to chase track, Pennsylvania State and national points. While Central Pennsylvania is often known for its high-speed half-mile “speed factories,” Clinton County’s bullring-style layout delivers nonstop action and side-by-side racing that has made it a favorite among fans and competitors alike. Bittner Opens Clinton County Season with Victory

MILL HALL, Pa. (Apr. 12, 2026) — Timmy Bittner of nearby Beech Creek thrilled the hometown crowd by claiming the season opener for the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars at Clinton County Speedway. Polesitter John Braim of Turbotville took the lead at the drop of the green flag, with Jacob Gamola of Seneca moving into second. Sixth-place starter Timmy Bittner quickly worked his way into second by the completion of lap two. By lap 10, Braim was leading Bittner, Gamola, Josh Fox of State College, and Ryan Lynn of Hollidaysburg. As Braim encountered lapped traffic, he was able to stretch his advantage over Bittner by a few car lengths. In the laps that followed, Bittner reeled him back in, searching for an opportunity to make a move. Kenny Schrader Coming to PA to Race IMCA Modifieds

MILL HALL, Pa. (April 25, 2023) – Kenny Schrader will be in competition at two Pennsylvania race tracks this fall. Clinton County Speedway promoter Jason McCahan and Penn Can Speedway promoter Keith Beach are pleased to announce the NASCAR legend will be coming to their respective speedways on Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16 to compete with the Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by M.R. Frank Brewer Memorial Expands to Two Nights at Cottage Grove Speedway July 24-25

(June 24, 2026) — One of Cottage Grove Speedway’s newest and most cherished traditions gets even bigger in 2026 as the Frank Brewer Memorial expands to a two-night format on July 24-25. The event honors longtime racer, car builder, sponsor, and tire distributor Frank Brewer, a fixture in the Cottage Grove racing community for decades. Brewer competed for more than 60 years, building and driving his own race cars. He began constructing race cars at age 14 and continued doing so until building his final car at age 90.
