WHITE CITY, Ore. (May 9, 2026) — In front of a standing-room-only crowd, Cory Biggs overcame adversity before and during Saturday night’s Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Southern Oregon Speedway, charging from 10th to win the $1,000-to-win main event.

Because of the massive standing room only turnout, Southern Oregon Speedway officials boosted the purses for both the IMCA SportMods and Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds.

After getting his car destroyed the previous week, the Yreka, California driver climbed behind the wheel of Ethan Killingsworth’s No. 7M machine and spent the entire week helping prepare the car for competition.

Isaac Sanders led the opening two laps before Jorddon Braaten took command on lap three. Earlier in the race, Mike Medel went for a violent ride after getting pinched entering turn three and launching off the edge of the racing surface with one lap completed.

Multiple cautions slowed the pace throughout the feature, including another yellow on lap nine just as Vinny DeBenedetti began reeling in Braaten.

DeBenedetti later looped his machine with 12 laps remaining, collecting third-running Brian Poppa in the process.

The drama intensified shortly after the ensuing restart when Braaten suffered mechanical trouble and stacked up the field, triggering another multi-car incident.

Rich McCoy inherited the lead and appeared poised for victory until spinning with nine laps to go. McCoy kept his car rolling, but Biggs capitalized on the opening and raced away to secure his first victory of the season.

McCoy recovered to finish second while Sanders completed the podium in third. California racer Connor Franklin advanced from 11th to fourth, and Evan Scroggins rallied from 20th to fifth despite being involved in an earlier incident.

Ferrando Goes Wire-to-Wire in $1,500 to Win Modified Finale

The packed crowd watched the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds battle for the $1,500-to-win feature, and Grey Ferrando gave fans a dominant performance.

The Scio driver grabbed the lead on the opening lap and paced the field the entire distance despite several cautions and a handful of chain-reaction incidents that collected multiple cars.

The victory was Ferrando’s second DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region triumph of the season, with both wins coming at Southern Oregon Speedway.

The feature also served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier for the 2026 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ferrando had already secured eligibility to try and qualify for the prestigious event after winning the previous week.

Mark Wauge crossed the line second ahead of Kevin Williamson. Matt Sanders rallied to fourth, while Ethan Killingsworth rounded out the top five.
