ANTIOCH, Calif. (Aug. 23, 2025) — Bobby Hogge of Salinas captured the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway during the J.D. Willis Salute. The victory was his third of the season at Antioch and 10th overall in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region this year.
Hogge raced into the early lead ahead of point leader Troy Foulger and Tyler Browne. A caution on lap two for Jacob Mallet Jr. in turn four bunched the field, but Hogge again held command through a lap 10 yellow for a backstretch crash involving Cody Burke and Mallet.
On the restart, Hogge maintained his edge, while a low pass in turn four on lap 13 moved Andrew Pearce into third. Smooth and steady out front, Hogge never faltered, driving to the checkers ahead of Foulger and Pearce.
Ryland Doubles Up With SportMod and Stock Car Sweep
Fred Ryland of Brentwood had a night to remember, sweeping both the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod and Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main events.
In the 20-lap SportMod feature, Jeff Bentancourt set the early pace before Ryland and Jason Ryan Jr. took control. Incoming point leader Kenny Shrader spun in turn two but kept going at the back. Buddy Kniss settled into third until traffic shuffled the order. By lap 12, Ryland was picking through slower cars, keeping Ryan in check. A lap 15 yellow for Tommy Clymens Jr. set up the final dash, with Ryland fending off Ryan and a hard-charging Shrader for the victory — his third SportMod win of the season, all at Antioch.
Ryland then backed it up in the 20-lap Stock Car main, earning his fifth win of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region — and clinching the 2025 Antioch track championship with one points race still remaining.
Mitch Machado led the first two laps before contact in turn two triggered a crash involving Jared Baugh, with Mitch Enos going to the back for his role. State points leader Austin Van Hoff inherited the lead and pulled ahead of Ryland until lap 15, when Ryland surged by on the outside down the front stretch. Once in command, Ryland stretched his lead and drove away to the win over Van Hoff and Kenneth Robles.
