Green flag flies Wednesday for IMCA Central California Clash

ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 1, 2023) – Wednesday night is opening night for the fourth annual IMCA Central California Clash. 

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star qualifying eligibility, and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods for $750 to win each night of the May 3-7 tour. 

Following the opening night show at Antioch Speedway are dates Thursday, May 4 at Merced Speedway; Friday, May 5 at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford; Saturday, May 6 at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway; and Sunday, May 7 at Bakersfield Speedway.

IMCA.TV broadcasts each night of the tour and the top drivers in point standings for each division also become eligible to qualify for their respective race of champions event during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in September.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region and California State points will be awarded all five nights.

Pit passes are $45 each night. Entry fee for all divisions is $25 a night or $100 for the week if paid on opening night.

Antioch opens the pit gates at noon on Wednesday. Hot laps are at 4:30 p.m. and racing is set for 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, military and kids, and free for five and under.

Pits are open all day Thursday at Merced, with pit pass sales starting at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and the first green flag flies at 7 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, military and juniors. Kids under 10 get in free.

At Hanford, pits open at 2 p.m., hot laps are at 5 p.m. and racing is at 6 p.m. Spectator tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, military and juniors; kids five and under are free.

Tulare opens the pits at 2 p.m. with 5:30 p.m. hot laps and racing at 6:30 p.m. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $10 for kids ages 6-12 and five and under are free. 

And at Bakersfield, the pits open at 2 p.m., hot laps are at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and military, $10 for kids ages 6-12 and free for kids ages five and under.

DeCarlo, Robles are IMCA winners at Antioch

(April 29, 2023) – Defending track champion Nick DeCarlo kicked off the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified season with the 20-lap main event win Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Troy Foulger set the early pace ahead of Andrew Pearce. However, Buddy Kniss and Pearce got together with Pearce stalling on the back stretch for a lap four yellow. DeCarlo moved into second behind Foulger on the restart and Kniss brought out a yellow flag a lap later.  On this restart, DeCarlo motored ahead of Foulger for the lead. As they worked the 15th lap, Foulger took a wild ride on two wheels in turn one but somehow managed to bring it back down. This allowed DeCarlo to build a more than straightaway advantage by the time the checkered flag flew.  Foulger settled for second ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Danny Malfatti. Foulger, Mallet are IMCA winners at Antioch

(July 23, 2022) – Troy Foulger won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event while Jacob Mallet Jr. won for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Buddy Kniss raced into the early Modified lead ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Aaron Crowell. An inside pass gained Crowell second on lap five with Foulger following into third. They ran that way until a high pass in turn two on lap 13 put Foulger into second. Foulger went outside Kniss in turn four on Lap 15 to take the lead. Foulger went onto victory from there, followed by Kniss, Crowell, Nick DeCarlo and Kellen Chadwick   Mallet’s checkers were his first this season at Antioch. He  took the early lead ahead of Nick Caughnan Jr. while Fred Ryland moved into third by the seventh lap. After a lap 13 yellow, Ryland trailed Mallet on the restart. McGowan Memorial is Saturday at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Bakersfield Speedway returns to action this Saturday with the Richie McGowan Memorial special. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win their June 27 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying feature. Top prize for the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods is $700. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Grandstands remain closed and a limit of five people will be allowed into the pit area, including the driver, per race team.
