Salina reschedules Mid-America Clash to Oct. 14-15

SALINA, Kan. (September 23, 2022) – With wet weather the winner this weekend, Salina Speedway’s 10th annual Mid-America Clash has been rescheduled to Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15. 

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,500 to win along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $1,000 to win and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star qualifying eligibility both nights,.

Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $750 to win, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $325 to win both nights.

Entry fee is $50 for Modifieds, $40 for Stock Cars, $30 for Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks, and $25 for Sport Compacts. 

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. for the Thursday, Oct. 13 practice session that runs from 6-9 p.m. Pit passes are $20 and grandstand admission is free.

Pits open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 and kids ages 15 and under get in free. Pit passes are $35.

The Mid-America Clash is presented by Mel Hambelton Ford and will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.

Money takes top check at Mid-America Clash

SALINA, Kan. (Sept. 29) – It took a day or two later than he’d wanted, but Clay Money got one of those IMCA Modified wins he’d been wanting for a while Sunday at Salina Speedway. Money was the $1,500 feature winner at Salina’s Mid-America Clash, postponed from Friday and Saturday to a one-day show on Sunday because of inclement weather. He led all 25 laps from the pole in topping the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. The victory was his fourth of 2018 and came on the final day of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly point season. “This is one we’ve wanted to get for a while,” said Money, runner-up in the second of two Clash features last year. “Kurtis (Pihl) chased me into lapped traffic but I got clean air after the restart.” The first 17 circuits ran green before back-to-back cautions waved. Money banks second straight Salina Mid-America Clash win

SALINA, Kan. (Sept. 27) – A second straight Mid-America Clash feature win had Clay Money al­ready looking forward to the 2020 season-ending special at Salina Speedway. Money topped Friday’s main event for IMCA Modifieds, earning $1,500 and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.  “It’s pretty cool. I wish we could have gotten both shows in (Saturday was a rainout) and gone back-to-back racing against a lot of the best competition in Kansas,” said Money, who started out­side row one and led the last 19 of 20 circuits. “Hopefully we can win it again next year.”  Also the winner of a topless special at Salina earlier this season, he took the Friday checkers follow­ing a late restart, beating Dustin Daniels and Clay Sellard to the stripe. Late night call seals the deal for URSS opener at Salina

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits  SALINA, Kan. – It has been a bustling 24 hours for Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing president Rick Salem. After thinking the upcoming Memorial Weekend of racing would not happen after the event at Oberlin Speedway was canceled, a late-night phone call from Salina Speedway owner Tommie Hendrickson and Chris Sutton wanting to bring in IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars for a Memorial Weekend special, both parties came to terms and the series will open the 2020 race season at the speedway this coming Saturday, May 23.  Originally a $700 to-win event, contributions and support from Missouri’s Mike Sosebee, Steve Hilker of Hilker Trucking and Austin McLean Motorsports now has this event paying $1,000 to-win and $200 to start.
