VINTON, Iowa (May 17, 2022) – The IMCA STARS Mod Lites will name their first national rookie of the year in 2022.
Twenty-six track and series champions, along with a dozen state champions, were crowned in 2021, the division’s first of IMCA sanctioning.
Rookie point standings, now posted on the IMCA website, will be based on drivers’ best 25 finishes out of their first 50 starts. Bonus points awarded for a track or series championship will be added to that point total at the end of the season.
Drivers cannot have made more than 10 sanctioned starts in their career in the division to be rookie eligible. Order of progression of rookie of the year eligibility is Sport Compact, Hobby Stock, Mod Lite, SportMod, Stock Car, Modified, Sprint Car and Late Model.
Deadline to declare rookie status, either on the 2022 license application form or by calling the IMCA home office (319 472-2201) is July 1.
All national rookies of the year receive a trophy and jacket during the IMCA banquet in Lincoln, Neb., in November.
