BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (Feb. 4-5) – Ethan Dotson won the IMCA Modified feature at $1,250 on opening night of Mohave Valley Raceway’s Bill & Shirley Meyer Showdown.

He doubled that payout and swept the weekend with the Saturday night checkers at Bullhead City.

Dotson saw his early season success continue in his first-ever visit to Mohave Valley, winning from the ninth starting spot on Friday and taking the $2,500 win from the fifth spot on night two.

“This track is pretty different than anywhere I’ve run before,” Dotson said following wins number six and seven on the young season. “We had a pretty good cart both nights. The weekend was not bad at all.”

Already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Dotson used a late restart to his advantage in winning the Friday feature.

He started fourth after the caution waved with six laps left, then motored to the front with four laps to go and crossed the stripe ahead of Dalton Houghton and Kelsie Foley.

Dotson needed 10 laps to get the lead in the big money race on Saturday and battled Cody Laney the last 20 times around the track.

Laney, who’d won the season-opening Bash at the Track special at Mohave Valley, started eighth and finished second; third was Braxton Yeager.

Robert Werkmeister was the Friday IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, ahead of Miranda Scott and Noah Geer. Jason Josselyn topped the Saturday show with Geer and Daniel Leslie completing the top three.

IMCA Northern SportMod winners were fourth starting Levi Kiefer on Friday and sixth starting Joel Dean on Saturday. Jerry Walton and Dakota Girard completed the opening night top three while Kiefer and Girard went 2-3 the next night.

First to the Friday night IMCA STARS Mod Lite checkers was Riley Klem, with J.D. Brown and Gary DeWitt next. DeWitt was the Saturday winner ahead of Steven Bender and Brenley Keil.

And Ken McWilliams swept Mach-1 Sport Compact features, in front of Wayne Taylor and David Stites on Friday while Chris Shelton was second and Stites third on Saturday.
