IMCA Modifieds chase $5,000 check at Park Jefferson crown jewel Iron Cup

JEFFERSON, S.D. – The eighth annual running of the IMCA Iron Cup at Park Jefferson Speedway is coming on Aug. 9-10. One of the crown jewels of racing in Siouxland, the pursuit for coveted Iron Cups brings very fierce competition to Park Jefferson Speedway.

Monday, Aug. 9 will feature the preliminary night of action as IMCA Modifieds run a format that mirrors the Marshalltown Speedway World Nationals. Drivers will compete in a pair of rounds of heat races to lock the top drivers in points into the “A” feature.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will run a complete, separate program featuring draw/redraw IMCA procedures.

Tuesday, Aug. 10 will be championship night when the Iron Cups are awarded in all five divisions.

Modifieds not locked into the feature will run twin heat races for the final spots in the $5,000 to win “A” main and then a last chance qualifier if necessary. The Stock Cars, Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts will again run a complete, separate program featuring draw/redraw IMCA procedures.

The Modified feature becomes Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational eligible. Both Stock Car features pay $1,000 with the winners becoming eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational.

Northern SportMods race for $500 to win each night, Hobby Stocks for $400. Top prize for the Sport Compacts on Monday is $150 with  Tuesday’s top check upped to $600 courtesy of Bob’s Watering Hole.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded.

Gates open both days at 5 p.m. for competitors and for spectators at 6 p.m. Hot laps will begin at 7 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Modified drivers can register online and pay $150 up to Aug. 7. After that, registration is $200.

Stock Car, SportMod, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact drivers can register for free up to Aug. 7. Day of registration will be $20.

IMCA Late Model sanction is first for Park Jefferson, South Dakota

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Feb. 21, 2024) – Park Jefferson Speedway will crown its first-ever IMCA Sunoco Late Model track champion this season. Sanctioned Late Models join five other IMCA divisions at PJ and run on six select nights in 2024. Noteboom matches wins record at PJ

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 11) – On a beautiful night in the Siouxland, it was the beautiful white number seven IMCA Modified of Jay Noteboom rolling into victory lane at Park Jefferson Speed­way. With his win, Noteboom tied Joe Kosiski at the top of the all-time win list at the Park Jefferson Speedway with 73 total checkers. There was no denying Noteboom, who started sixth, but in just two laps flew by front row starters Jason Schneiders and Harvey Vande Weerd to fly to a lead he would never relinquish. Noteboom opened a huge lead that was up to 8.5 seconds at one point.
