81 Speedway on tap Saturday for United Rebel Sprint Series This Saturday

PARK CITY, Kan. – Drive to Zero POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing competitors are slated to return to Park City, Kansas’ Race 81 Speedway on Saturday, June 19. Their last visit on May 22 saw Danny Smith walking away the victor.  

The race, paying $1000 to win and $200, to start should bring a great field of cars from the Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri area. 

Hot laps are slated for 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. General admission is $15 for adults, with kids ages 10 and under free of charge. 

The United Rebel Sprint Series partnered with Kansas’ Drive to Zero program to offer a $5,000 pay day to the 2021 series champion. The Drive to Zero program was designed with one goal in mind, to reduce fatalities and serious injuries that occur on Kansas highways, targeting child passenger safety, impaired driving, texting, and seat belt violations. Drive Safe Kansas

Martens dominates URSS feature at Stockton

STOCKTON, Kan. (Aug. 17) – Jake Martens put in a stellar performance as he won his third United Rebel Sprint Series feature of the season, dominating Friday’s 20-lap main event at Stockton Speedway. Jake Bubak jumped into the lead and led the first two laps until a caution flew. On the restart, Martens slid Bubak in turn one, taking the lead and never looking back. Martens stretched his lead each lap to win by 10 car lengths over Bubak, Zach Blurton came and Jordan Knight. Scott Cochran, making his first appearance of the year with the Rebels, completed the top five. Salem Memorial is this weekend for Rebels

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits     OBERLIN, Kan. – The Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing has its sights set on this coming weekend, Aug. 16-17, for the annual Eagle Travel Stop and Convenience Stores Bob Salem Memorial at Oberlin Speedway.  Friday night’s opener will pay $700 to win for the nights feature finale. Saturday night will once again see a full set of heat and last chance races for the IMCA Rac­eSaver Sprint Car series with the championship finale paying $1,200 to the winner. Saturday’s Bob Salem Memorial championship was originally scheduled to pay $1,000 to win. Scott Precision Aerial added the extra $200. Both Friday and Saturday shows see gates open at 4 p.m. with race action slated for 7:30 p.m. Grandstand adult general admission will be $15 each night while ages 7-12 will be $10. Children ages 6 and under will be admitted into the grandstands for free.

Werner, Walters are URSS winners at RPM

HAYS, Kan. (June 13-14) – Jed Werner and Koby Walters ran the string of Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWERi United Rebel Sprint Series winners to four in as many events, when the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series joined the Mike Hughes Memorial Sunflower Classic slate at RPM Speedway. Werner got a run on race-long leader Shane Sundquist down the backstretch with just three laps to go to claim the opening night event on Saturday. Walters took the lead just before midway and never looked back to claim Sunday honors. Only two car lengths separated the front pair with five laps to go on Saturday. Lap 23 saw Werner get a run on the top side coming out of turn two and storm past Sundquist down the back stretch to take the lead.
