Soderberg Memorial concludes season at Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kan. – It has gone by in a flash it seems. And now the 2020 racing season at Dodge City Raceway Park concludes with Saturday night’s eighth annual Jerry Soderberg Champion­ship Memorial atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. 

It has been a condensed season that didn’t get under way until June 20, more than two-and-a-half months after the originally scheduled April 4 season opener, due to COVID-19 concerns.

And now, three quick months later since the green flag finally flew at DCRP, five racers will earn their championship crowns on Saturday night.

The Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars square off with the United Rebel Sprint Series for the final time this season with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks closing out their DCRP seasons as well. 

Saturday’s racing action will get under way at 7:30 p.m.

Past Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship Winners: 

2019 – Zach Blurton (Sprint), Clay Sellard (Modified), Blaine Walt (SportMod), Chris Oliver (Stock Car), Tathan Burkhart (Hobby Stock).

2018 – Blurton (Sprint), Brendon Gemmill (Modified), Dakota Sproul (SportMod), Chris Oliver (Stock Car), Burkhart (Hobby Stock).

2017 – Taylor Velasquez (Sprint), William Nusser (Modified), Brian Davidson (SportMod), Angel Munoz (Stock Car), Duane Wahrman (Hobby Stock). 

2016 – Jake Bubak (Sprint), Cole Traugott (Modified), Jeff Kaup (SportMod), Michael Pepper (Stock Car), David Berger (Hobby Stock).

2013 – Blurton (Sprint) Ryan Heger (Modifieds), Josh Appel (SportMod), Hartman (Stock Car).

General admission is $15 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Mid-season championships are Saturday at Dodge City

The June 30 Saturday’s tilt that goes green at 7:30 p.m. will include a full card of championship chase action including the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Huish reigns at Dodge City’s Sprint Car Nationals 

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 6, 2024) – First he won the king of the hill. Next, Jeremy Huish reigned over the inaugural Sprint Car Nationals at Dodge City Raceway Park. Huish led all 30 laps from the pole Saturday night, collecting the $5,000 IMCA RaceSaver checkers ahead of Conner Thomas and Steven Richardson. “It’s very, very cool to win the first one at Dodge,” said Huish, who’d put his name on another exclusive list by winning RaceSaver Nationals last September. “I heard Conner early but the track was very fast and you could catch up with (the back of the field) very quickly.” He pulled away after the last, late restart and won by about a straightaway. The win by Huish was his third in four starts dating back to last fall in the Steve Cranston-owned Maxim ride previously piloted by Luke Cranston. Labor Day Weekend special on tap Saturday at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The penultimate round of 2018 championship chase action atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval in southwest Kansas is set for this Saturday night, Sept. 1. Saturday’s Labor Day Weekend special card at the state-of-the-art facility includes a full card of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m. Thus far in 2018, a total of 185 different racers have competed in at least one round champion­ship chase action at Dodge City with 31 different competitors making their way to victory lane in 46 overall features.  This past weekend’s tilt offered up four first-time winners on the season with only IMCA Hobby Stocker Duane Wahrman making a return visit to the winner’s circle after his fourth triumph of the year.
