Gullion gets RaceSaver Sprint win at Eagle

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 8, 2023) – Rollovers and crashes made for an interesting night for the safety crew at Arlington Raceway on Saturday. A first lap red flag in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature saw several cars get together in turn two, which resulted in both national points leader Trevor Serbus and Mike Stien rolling their cars. Dave Becker and Owen Carlson also got taken to the pits. The front row was gone so everyone moved up and that gave an opening for Matt Johnson to take the lead and he was a fourth of a lap ahead of the rest of the field. On lap 11, a yellow came out for Dan Griep who had been running second but clipped a tire, spun and was then done for the night. (May 26) – Mark Pace was scored first every time around the track in winning his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature Saturday at Eagle Raceway. “We parked it tonight on the front stretch, finally!” he said from victory lane. “I love a dryslick race track like we had tonight. Whenever a track takes rubber I always smell it first and get right into it. It makes you a driver. I also like a heavy track where it’s elbows up, but this kind of track is more technique.” Joey Danley, Toby Chapman and Mike Boston rounded out the top four. Jeff Ware and Shawn Harker both won for the third time in four Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock and Purdue University IMCA Northern SportMod outings, respectively. (July 11) – Roger Sluka led start to finish in winning a fast-paced Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMod main event Saturday at Eagle Raceway.  Sluka brought the 5S back to the flag stand first with Rich Flock, James Hines and Bobby Draper rounding out the top four. Lap three saw Braydon Latture race into second with Mike Scheinost taking third and Draper holding onto fourth.  Derek Hall passed Draper on lap nine and Scheinost got past Latture for second two laps later, but Latture got the spot back after another two circuits with Shawn Harker jumping up to third.  Harker got past Latture after two more rounds as Arie Schouten moved into fourth. Harker dropped out with just three to go making the final top four Sluka, Schouten, Latture and Brian Baker.
