IMCA Stock Car Shootout this Saturday at Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Dodge City Raceway Park fires back to action this weekend with the $1,000-to-win IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Shootout presented by Winner’s Circle Feedyards and Factory Direct Fireworks on Saturday night atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. 

Last year’s special event for the Stock Cars evolved into a true “Shootout” with Hill City’s Kyle Pfeifer battling past Jason Rogers in the closing rounds to secure the win.

Saturday’s racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets for are $12 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.

Along with the Stock Cars it will also be a full slate of championship chase action for the Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Drivers in all classes should note that DCRP will begin using Westhold transponders this Saturday night.  Those already with Westhold transponders may use their own while the track will have transponders available for purchase or rent for those that need them.

Last lap is a wild one as Martens prevails at DCRP vs. URSS Sprint Car Nationals

(June 16) – Jake Martens survived a wild last lap to pocket more than $4,000 by winning Saturday’s Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP vs. URSS 305 Sprint Car Nationals 30-lap championship feature at Dodge City Raceway Park. Martens took the lead away from Brian Herbert, then kept Chad Koch at bay before escaping a last-lap slider from Jake Bubak to pocket $4,040, an amount that included $1,040 in lap money along with the posted $3,000 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint car winner’s share. Martens raced to the stripe ahead of Koch and 15th starting Luke Cranston for the lucrative pay­day. Becker starts holiday weekend with Sprint win at Dodge City

(July 2) – The Independence Weekend got off to an early start at Dodge City Raceway Park with Brett Becker picking up the $1,000 winner’s share in the Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series vs. DCRP Sprint Car Clash. Becker gridded the feature outside the front row but it was 16-year-old pole starter Kyler Johnson gunning into the initial lead of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event. Fourth starting Jake Bubak handled Becker on lap two to move into the runner-up spot.  By lap five Becker found the bottom to his liking, moving back by Bubak and taking the lead one lap later from Johnson.   Working through traffic much of the way, Becker fought off a bid from Bubak at the midway point and then had Johnson on his tailtank again after a Bubak miscue on the 16th lap. Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move.   Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit.  Bubak successfully navigated past a pair of lapped cars and found open track once again when a final caution with a dozen laps remaining.  Bubak reached [Read More]
