Racing resumes Saturday at Springfield Quick Quarter

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Following a rainout last Saturday, officials at the Quick-Quarter of Springfield Raceway have announced final details for the Firefall Fireworks Spectacular event this Saturday, July 3 with IMCA Modifieds presented by Bad Boy Mowers competing in a $500 to win, $100 to start scheduled 20 lap feature. Pit gates open at 12:15 p.m. with driver cutoff set for 4:05 p.m. and racing action slated for 4:45 p.m.  To help celebrate our nation’s Independence Holiday, a large fireworks show will add to the excitement. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (May 8) – Second generation driver Trevor Drake came from his fifth starting spot and made it look easy Saturday night at The Quick-Quarter of Springfield Raceway in grabbing his first IMCA Modified feature win. Drake took to the high side and went for a Saturday night cruise, besting current track point leader James Thompson to become the third different feature winner in The Bad Boy Mower IMCA Modified division out of five races held so far this season.  Other feature winners so far has been Thompson with two wins and Steven Bowers Jr. with two wins at Jerry Hoffman’s speed plant, which produces three-wide racing almost every Saturday night. Following Drake to the stripe were Thompson,  Bobby Pearish, Jackie Dalton and Shawn Duncan. Last week’s runner up Jimmy Greenway slipped late in the race to finish sixth.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 27) – James Thompson took the early lead and then held back Jet Rac­ing Central Region Point leader Steven Bowers Jr., Bobby Pearish and Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified track point leader Jody Tillman in becoming the third different in three events Satur­day at the “Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway. Thompson, who started fourth, quickly went topside to open a large lead early in what proved to be a caution-free 20-lap feature.  Pearish moved to the extreme high side in giving chase as Bowers was slicing his way to the front while battling with Tillman.  Thompson used the tight races behind him to pull away but Pearish started to reel in the race leader just past halfway while Bowers was using every inch and every lane of the smooth, slick surface in gaining ground. On lap 15, Bowers caught Pearish and the duo gained on Thompson quickly.
