Glover, Murty, Logue get first wins of season at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 3) – Three drivers scored their first wins of the year Friday at Mar­shalltown Speedway, Curtis Glover in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Damon Murty in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Johnathon Logue in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

Glover led all 15 laps of the caution-free Late Model main and did so going away.  Last week’s winner Dalton Simonsen finished second and Logan Duffy took third. 

In another green to checkers contest, Murty started 10th, claimed the topside as his own again and overtook then leader Dusty Vis at lap nine. Son Dallon followed his dad’s lead, rim riding his way to second place after starting ninth.  Kyle Everts came from eighth starting spot to finish third.

The ninth starting Logue made the bottom side work to his advantage, finding just enough mois­ture to make it work in his 18-lap event. Logue caught leader Brayton Carter, making the pass with four laps remaining, and then sailed to victory.  Carter finished as the runner up while Jenae Gustin came from eighth to finish third.

Tom Berry Jr. made it two in a row in the IMCA Modifieds and Kaden Reynolds became a perfect 4-for-4 in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks after starting 12th.

Benton County Frostbuster rescheduled to Sunday, Stuart opens tonight

VINTON, Iowa – Wednesday’s scheduled IMCA Frostbuster at Benton County Speedway has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 4.  Track officials made that announcement after determining they could not get the dirt oval at Vinton race-ready for the number of cars expected to compete on the original date.  Along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be on the Sunday card.  Racing starts at 5 p.m. and there will be Easter eggs for the kids. More information about the Benton County Frostbuster is to be announced. Frostbuster Week starts tonight (Tuesday) at Stuart Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, Stocks, SportMods and Hobbies also run at Frostbusters Thursday, April 1 at Independence Motor Speedway; Friday, April 2 at Mar­shalltown Speedway; and Saturday, April 3 at Boone Speed­way.

Dallon Murty earns first career IMCA Stock Car win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5) – Friday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Marshalltown Speed­way was one for the record books as 14-year-old Dallon Murty, son of the “Chelsea Charger” Damon Murty, led all 18 laps to score his first career win in the division. Murty set his ride to the top of the track much like his dad, and finished well ahead of second place Steve Meyer. Shawn Ritter finished in third place, Todd Reitzler was fourth, and Dave Atcher completed the top five. Todd Cooney had to fend off Jeremiah Hurst most of the 20-lap IMCA Late Model feature in order to capture his second feature of the season. Cooney came from eighth starting spot to take the win.  Hurst, who started ninth, finished as the runner-up.  Leah Wroten paid her second visit to victory lane in winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event. Lauritzen, Reitzler, Richards score first Marshalltown wins

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 23) – It was Casey’s and Rumours Bar and Grill Salute to Marshalltown Law Enforcement Night at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday.  Ronn Lauritzen raced from sixth starting to second and was chomping at the bit for an early restart in the IMCA Modified feature. Lauritzen then put some distance between himself and the field and scored an easy win.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars put together another caution-free race.  Josh Foster took advantage of his pole starting spot, and shot to the immediate lead.  That lead would vanish on lap three, when Todd Reitzler took over the top spot. Reitzler went on to lead the rest of the laps to take his first victory of the year at the High Banks.  Foster never went away however, chased Reitzler the entire race, but had to settle for second.
