Glover, Murty, Logue get first wins of season at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 3) – Three drivers scored their first wins of the year Friday at Mar­shalltown Speedway, Curtis Glover in the IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Damon Murty in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Johnathon Logue in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

Glover led all 15 laps of the caution-free Late Model main and did so going away.  Last week’s winner Dalton Simonsen finished second and Logan Duffy took third. 

In another green to checkers contest, Murty started 10th, claimed the topside as his own again and overtook then leader Dusty Vis at lap nine. Son Dallon followed his dad’s lead, rim riding his way to second place after starting ninth.  Kyle Everts came from eighth starting spot to finish third.

The ninth starting Logue made the bottom side work to his advantage, finding just enough mois­ture to make it work in his 18-lap event. Logue caught leader Brayton Carter, making the pass with four laps remaining, and then sailed to victory.  Carter finished as the runner up while Jenae Gustin came from eighth to finish third.

Tom Berry Jr. made it two in a row in the IMCA Modifieds and Kaden Reynolds became a perfect 4-for-4 in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks after starting 12th.

Thornton is extremely good on Xtream Night at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5, 2024) –  It was Xtream Powered by Mediacom Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night, along with Iron Horse Aviation giving some a different perspective of the races from high above with helicopter rides. A strong field of 134 cars checked in to entertain fans who saw Dylan Thornton capture his first local feature in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. Austin Kaplan also took his first trip to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Matt Avila looked strong with his win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Bradly Graham got his first weekly win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Jason Masengarb snagged feature win number two on the year in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and Mitchell Bunch made it two in a row in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Gustin cashes in at Marshalltown with Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 4) – The driver who’s won the most Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features added to his total Tuesday evening at Marshalltown Speedway.  Richie Gustin topped the $2,000 to win main event for IMCA Modifieds, taking the lead on lap eight and pulling away from Jordan Grabouski to capture the opening night checkers.  Gustin was already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The victory was his tour career ninth and third at Marshalltown. Tim Ward had led the stout field as the race went green, with Gustin tucking in behind to run in second.  Gustin took several peeks in the corners, tried an unsuccessful slide at lap seven, then managed the pass on the front stretch at lap eight to take command. IMCA Stock Car crown good for $5,000 at Marshalltown’s King of the High Banks 

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 8, 2024) – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for a top prize of $5,000 at one of the richest specials event of the early season, Marshalltown Speedway’s April 11 and 12 King of the High Banks. The winner is guaranteed a starting spot in the upcoming B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational and taking the green flag in the main event is good for a minimum of $500. Presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair of Eldora, the spring special also features complete shows for five other IMCA divisions each night. Entry fee for The Class Too Tough to Tame is $125 is paid by April 9 or $150 at the gate.
