Wayman handles Eagle SportMod foes

EAGLE, Neb. (June 27) – Cole Wayman got the lead on lap seven and drove to the Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMod checkers Saturday at Eagle Raceway. 

Wayman had cracked the top four on the fourth circuit and the top three the next time around. The final caution of the Star Spangled Showdown show came with six laps left and while Matt Andrews was the mn on the move, he had to settle for third behind Wayman and Mike Scheinost. 

Toby Chapman was the fourth and final leader in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, beating Adam Gullion and Ryan King to the checkers. 

Other winners were Jordan Grabouski in the IMCA Modifieds, Jeff Ware in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Dillon Richards in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. 

Next weekend is Eagle Raceway’s annual Fourth of July Freedom Fest. There will be a Red, White and Blue Challenge at intermission with the area’s largest fireworks display following the final feature. Front gates open at 5 p.m.

Haney, Williams win first features at Eagle

Armed Forces Night at Eagle Raceway saw a big crowd, a pit full of cars and the best racing so far this year. Wayman follows IMCA Modified win with Sprint second at Eagle 

By Greg Soukup  EAGLE, Neb. (April 29, 2023) – Cole Wayman had a whale of a night Saturday at Eagle Raceway. The Lincoln speedster won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at America’s Home Track, then hopped into his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car and ran second to veteran Adam Gullion in the nightcap. He topped the Modified feature in front of Shawn Harker, Anthony Roth and Jaxon Saathoff, then took charge early in the Sprint show with Gullion in tow. Clint Benson passed Josh Riggins for third on lap two. Gene Ackland also got past Riggins, putting the 14G in fourth. There were nine laps left when Benson passed Gullion for second, only to lose the spot back to him the following circuit. First Stock Car checkers fly for last starting Anderson

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 17, 2023) – John Anderson changed directions and changed his Saturday night status from rained out to first-time IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature winner. En route to Shelby County Speedway before that show was lost to wet weather, the Omaha speedster went back to his shop, changed gear and got to Eagle Raceway in time to start at the back of the 18-car main event field. In fourth by lap 10, he made a huge move with seven circuits to go, vaulting all of the way up to second. Anderson snagged the lead with three to go, ultimately winning ahead of Shane Stutzman and Nick Beckman. “The cautions fell my way and I had a pretty fast car (a 2018 Jet),” said Anderson. “It was pretty crazy.” He’d finished third in each of his two starts in the class, both earlier this season at Eagle. “I’ll be darned.
