Independence Motor Speedway set to open Saturday

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa  – The 2020 racing season will see its first green flag of the season this Saturday, May 23. The sweet sounds of race cars flying around the 3/8-mile dirt track located on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds will be heard as five IMCA divisions will be in competition. 

IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will all be in action with hot laps scheduled to take to the track at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.  

The season opener for 2020 will be very different as the track will open under the Iowa Governor’s restriction due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which means the grandstand will be closed. Each race car entering the pit area will be allowed to be accompanied by 10 persons, the social distancing guidelines will be in effect and cars will be pitted a minimum of six feet apart.  

Fans will have the opportunity to watch the night’s racing action by logging on to Done Right TV. The live streaming service will carry a one-time charge and will not require a membership to watch from the comfort of your living room.

Olson stays hot on Iowa Donor Network Night at Indee

By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 30, 2022) – Tony Olson made it six straight Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod wins at Independence Motor Speedway on Iowa Donor Network Racing to Save Lives Night.  Brandon Tharp and Will Wolf led the field to the green flag but neither led the first lap as Olson grabbed the top spot early and stayed in charge following multiple restarts and earn $750. Tharp finished second and Wolf was third. Kaden Reynolds was able to sneak by Cole Mather for the lead seven laps into the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. Already B & B Racing Chassis All-Star qualifying eligible, Reynolds caught lapped traffic but was not to be denied as he went on to take his third win, this one good for $750, of the season in Indee. Another IMCA Late Model Sunoco bonus awarded at Indee during Osborn Memorial

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 29, 2023) – Another $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be awarded when IMCA Sunoco Late Models headline the Denny Osborn Memorial Wednesday, July 5 at Independence Motor Speedway. Division title sponsor Sunoco gives that bonus during the Buchanan County Fair event. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Late Models, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods all race for $1,000 to win that evening, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $250. Grandstands open at Independence Motor Speedway this Saturday

By Jerry Mackey   INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The 2020 Independence Motor Speedway season resumes this coming Saturday, June 6 in front of a live crowd for the first time this year. Independence, promoted by jjamracing, which is comprised of Mick Trier and partner Justin Temeyer, is anxious to continue the racing season with fans in attendance. Racing runs under the IMCA banner with sanctioned divisions including the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. The 3/8 mile track, located on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds in Independence, will see the pits open at 3:30 p.m. and grandstand open at 4:30 p.m., with warmups set for 6 p.m. and racing to follow.
