Sports Park Raceway postponed, Benton County Speedway to host Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights opener

FORT DODGE, Iowa (May 21) – Rain has been declared the winner of tonight’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour event at Sports Park Raceway. 

The Fort Dodge speedplant was to host opening night for the 10th annual tour for IMCA Modifieds Tuesday evening. IMCA and track officials hope to reschedule that race for later this summer.

The tour now gets underway on Memorial Day with a $1,500 to win, minimum $150 to start show at Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods complete the Monday, May 27 program, to be broadcast by IMCA.TV. 

The traditional home track of the IMCA Modified division, Benton County has hosted eight Dirt Knights Tour events since 2011, each of which resulted in a different winner.

It’s a rich holiday weekend in Vinton, as Modifieds will race for $2,000 to win at Sunday’s Albert Auto Night program.

Both Albert Auto Night and Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features are qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Sanctioned Stocks, Hobbies and Northern SportMods also run on Sunday.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m. both nights. Spectator admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids.

Schulte, Docekal dash to first wins of season at Benton County Speedway

By Jerry Mackey VINTON, Iowa (June 28) – Mark Schulte and Joe Docekal scored first local wins of the season on the night Benton County Speedway hosted the world’s largest candy dash.  Mark Schulte took the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature win ahead of two of the most accomplished drivers to ever strap into a Modified. Greg Kastli had a great night with a heat win and a second place finish in the main. Troy Cordes followed Kastli under the checkers in third.   Joe Docekal has been a frontrunner in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division this season but the wins have eluded the Dysart driver. Docekal was not to be denied on Sunday night however as he took the lead from early leader Kyle Olson and went on to score the feature win ahead of Brady Hilmer and Jason Doyle.  Damon Murty found the extreme high side to his liking on Sunday night in scoring the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win. Murty, Thornton, Olson race to opening night wins at The Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (May 8, 2022) – After Mother Nature twice delayed season opening action, weekly points racing made a successful return Sunday night to Benton County Speedway. Also making a successful return was a familiar face in victory lane following the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Dallon Murty won an entertaining battle with his father, Damon, to score the win. The father and son drew front row starting spots and proceeded to put on a show for the duration of the 15-lapper. Never separated by more than a car-length, the Murtys battled for the lead from the onset. Dallon, who spent much of the event chasing Damon, snuck ahead with a last-lap pass to secure the victory. $1,000 to win IMCA Stock Cars headline May 22 action at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (May 17, 2022) – A hefty payday will be on the line for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Vermedahl Logistics May 22 at Benton County Speedway. The Sunday event pays $1,000 to win and earns the feature winner qualifying eligibility for the B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational at this year’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. In addition to the hefty winner’s share, the Stock Car feature will pay $100 to start. There is no entry fee. IMCA National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and KMJ Performance Iowa State points will be awarded in the draw/redraw special for the Stock Cars.
