Thompson, Roth are IMCA winners at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 24) – Sunday racing action at Dubuque Speedway provided the fans with a thrilling night of action packed plenty of wheel-to-wheel action on Casey’s General Store Night at the Races.

Derek Thompson found the tacky track to his liking in scoring the 20-lap Merfeld Auto IMCA Modified feature. Thompson led the most laps in taking the checkers ahead of Austin Moyer and Matt Short.

Jason Roth won his second consecutive GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Roth took the point position after the midway portion of the 18-lap main and went on to cross under the flag stand ahead of Gage Neal and Troy Bauer.

Dubuque Deery date rescheduled for April 28

DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 15) – The new date for the Deery Brothers Summer Series show at Dubuque Speedway is Sunday, April 28. Postponed from April 14, the main event for touring IMCA Late Models pays $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start and headlines the Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial program originally scheduled last Saturday at Maquoketa Speedway. The April 13 show lost to low temperatures will not be rescheduled. Also running at Dubuque will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for national, regional, state and track points, along with a local 4-cylinder class. Three Key City Challenge dates at Dubuque for IMCA Late Models

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Feb. 6, 2024) – IMCA Sunoco Late Models will have three opportunities to take home $2,500 this season in Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway’s Key City Challenge. Late Model features on Sundays, April 28, June 23 and Aug. 18 all tote big checks for drivers pre-registered by April 28. “This was an idea one of our Late Model drivers, Luke Merfeld, had. INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – A Deery Brothers Summer Series doubleheader is on the docket this weekend, as the 33rd annual tour for IMCA Late Models travels to Independence Motor Speedway and Dubuque Speedway. A top prize of $2,000 is on the line Saturday, April 27 at Independence while the winner of the Sunday, April 28 Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial at Dubuque goes home with $2,500. Both features pay a minimum of $300 to start. The Sunday show was rescheduled after a mid-April twinbill at Maquoketa and Dubuque was lost to unseasonable weather. Murty Survives Late Race Drama to Take Stock Car Dirt Duel

By Ben Deatherage STUART, Iowa (May 14, 2025) — Dallon Murty made the most of his father Damon’s ride Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway, capturing the $2,000 payday in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car portion of the Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. The Chelsea native surged past Dillon Solum for the lead on a lap seven restart after Solum and Buck Schafroth battled intensely for the top spot in the opening laps. Schafroth, the two-time defending track champion, fended off several slider attempts from Solum before the Oregon transplant finally found a way around him on the seventh circuit. Murty appeared to be in control until a lap 21 caution erased his sizable advantage. A brush with oil in turn three nearly cost him the win as the fluid brought out the yellow, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. (May 11, 2025) — Dalton Magers fended off a fierce late-race challenge from multi-time state champion Brandon Beckendorf to capture the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified season opener at Redwood Speedway. The Redwood Falls racer, a three-time reigning Murray County Speedway track champion, held his line and kept Beckendorf at bay over the final circuits to secure his first win of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
