Deer Creek is destination for history-making 27th annual Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – History will be made when one of the premier events for IMCA Modifieds travels to one of the premier tracks in the Midwest this summer.

Deer Creek Speedway hosts the 27th annual Harris Clash on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Modifieds race for $3,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $1,000 to win when the first-ever IMCA-sanctioned event is held at the Spring Valley, Minn., oval.

“This will be a historical event. Deer Creek is one of the tracks that ranks right up there when you talk about dirt track facilities,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “I think this is going to be a stellar event, possibly the biggest one-day event Deer Creek experiences this year. The history of the Clash and the reputation of Deer Creek set the stage for a pretty impressive night of IMCA racing.”

While a career’s worth of bragging rights are on the line, the Modified feature is a qualifier for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

“Bob Harris, in his efforts to promote this event, has been fantastic,” noted Root. “Unfortunately we don’t sanction Deer Creek weekly but with an event of this magnitude at a facility like this and where the Queensland family has such an outstanding reputation, I think there are many IMCA racers looking forward to competing there with their own equipment.”

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Minnesota State points are at stake for the Modifieds. Northern SportMods chase national and state points.

“The Harris Clash is like Super Nationals in that it moved around a bit and landed at Knoxville where the opportunity for a rain date was almost non-existent,” said Root. “It moved back to its original venue in Webster City, but unfortunately Hamilton County Speedway is no longer the type of facility an event of this caliber demands.”

Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. on race day at Spring Valley. Hot laps and the drivers’ meeting precede racing at 7 p.m.

More information about the Harris Clash, presented by Asgrow/DeKalb Seeds, will be available on www.harrisclash.com and www.deercreekspeedway.com websites. Drivers can also pre-enter at the harrisclash.com website.

The Harris Clash will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.
