PLEASANTON, Texas (April 22) – Talon Minten outlasted the field to take home Sunday’s IMCA Modified main event at I-37 Speedway.
Minten got the lead from early point man Chris Morris, who drives withonlyhand controls, then outpaced the remaining field for the win.
“We had a good car,”said Minten. “With the wrecks and cautionsI’m gladI started up front and stayed clear of it all. The track wasn’t too bad for our feature,I felt like the top line was dominant so whoever got up there first would likely stay out front.”
Dillon Tindall was second and Morris ended his night in third.
The scheduled Saturday show at Pleasanton was rescheduled because of inclement weather and wet pit conditions.
HUFFMAN, Texas (April 19, 2024) – It’s four races into the inaugural South Texas IMCA Modified Series and Promoter Jacob Hortch has already seen a lot that he likes. The inaugural series is averaging better than 20 Modified entries, with competitive racing every night and just one repeat winner so far. Even the T-shirt sales have been pretty good. “We’re definitely proud of the car counts we’re bringing. These drivers are definitely putting on good shows,” Hortch said after watching Logan Dinsmore race from ninth to win the latest STIMS event, at Cotton Bowl Speedway. “We’ve seen a lot of different cars every night. I think drivers like the level of competition and the fans have been happy to see competitive IMCA Modified racing.” “I think the tracks are happy, too.” Logan Dinsmore tells all about his ninth to first run in the April 13 South Texas IMCA Modified Series main event at Cotton Bowl Speedway. By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (March 23) – A back-and-forth battle finally went Chris Swenson’s way Saturday at I-37 Speedway. Swenson, Cody Leonard and Nebraska’s Chad Andersen had a good three-car battle going for the top spot in the 20-lap IMCA Modified Dirt Kings main event. A caution set up a slide job duel between Swenson and Anderson as they swapped the lead for the final five laps before Swenson edged Andersen at the line to score the $1,000 win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. “That was crazy,” said Swenson. “Slide job city, really. We just kept going back and forth, back and forth. He’d slide me, I’d slide him. It was just who was the last to give one as the checkered flag flew.” “I was a little leery. I’m kind of old school back before we did slide jobs. It’s one of those things that you really have to trust the guy. It puts on a great show, but it is kind of scary,” he continued. “You’re just waiting the guy [Read More]
By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Sept. 14, 2024) – It was another “hot” night of racing at I-37 Speedway after a week off. The action was as hot as the temperatures on the quarter-mile mile, semi-banked, dirt, oval just outside Pleasanton. It’s still a tight battle in the South Texas Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Series by Hortch Speed Shop with Chris Morris now on top by 10 over Ryan Doyon and 11 over Rick Green. Jacob Hortch led the STIMS field into turn one at the start of the 20-lap feature, but it was Green getting inside to lead lap one. Hortch, Morris, Jared Maupin and Logan Dinsmore followed in the top five. Morris got by Hortch for second with Maupin following to third. Dinsmore was next to pick up a spot from Hortch before Maupin spun and collected Hortch, ending both their nights. On the restart, Green had Morris looking high while Dinsmore looked low. Green and Morris then went side-by-side with Morris getting the nose ahead briefly. Dinsmore got by low for second, [Read More]
