PLEASANTON, Texas (April 22) – Talon Minten outlasted the field to take home Sunday’s IMCA Modified main event at I-37 Speedway.
Minten got the lead from early point man Chris Morris, who drives withonlyhand controls, then outpaced the remaining field for the win.
“We had a good car,”said Minten. “With the wrecks and cautionsI’m gladI started up front and stayed clear of it all. The track wasn’t too bad for our feature,I felt like the top line was dominant so whoever got up there first would likely stay out front.”
Dillon Tindall was second and Morris ended his night in third.
The scheduled Saturday show at Pleasanton was rescheduled because of inclement weather and wet pit conditions.
By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Jan. 9, 2026) — The 25-lap, $1,500-to-win IMCA Modified main for night three of the Texas Showdown at I-37 came to green with Jordan Grabouski and Dean Abbey staying wheel to wheel into turn one. Steven Whiteaker Jr. had a big run coming off the very top, but it was Grabouski leading lap one, chased by Whiteaker, Abbey, Cody Laney, and Jeff Taylor in the top five. Abbey used the bottom to take second from Whiteaker on lap two, with Taylor grabbing third a lap later. The yellow waved on lap six, and when things got back under green, Grabouski got away while Laney tried the high side and fell back, and G.W. Egbert IV moved into the top five. Halfway through, Grabouski had built a half-straightaway advantage over Abbey, Taylor, Whiteaker, and Egbert. With five to go, Abbey was closing slightly as Grabouski encountered traffic. Each lap, Abbey picked up a car length or so, while Grabouski worked through slower cars, all of which were running the bottom. With two [Read More]
By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (May 19) – After some early season bad luck, Chris Carroll parked his IMCA Modified in the winner’s circle Saturday at I-37 Speedway. Thanks to his wife, son and a couple grand in repairs, Carroll got by point leader Rick Green for the lead. Talon Minten was able to show him the nose after a late restart but Carroll was able to hold him off. “It’s my wife and son supporting me, first off,” commented Carroll. “Colin put the car together and he made it come off the turns. It rotated through the middle real good. Rick (Green) slipped up a little bit and let me go.” “My son put the car back together after the crash earlier this year. There was about $2,000 in damage,” he continued. “We basically torn the right front off and bent the bird cages, tires and wheels. Luckily, I have a kid that loves this stuff and got it all back together. He’s a pretty good mechanic.” Minten ended in second and Green took [Read More]
By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (March 19, 2022) – Spring has (almost) sprung, with the new season only hours away before the green flag waved for the I-37 Speedway season opener on the ¼-mile, semi-banked dirt oval, just south of San Antonio. As the IMCA Modified 20-lap main fired off it was Jared Maupin off turn two with the lead trailed by Chris Morris, Cameron Starry, Robert Liese and Ryan Doyon in top five. After a quick spin and caution, Morris began his challenge on Maupin for the lead, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him. Morris tried diving in low and got alongside Maupin, but Maupin held him off. Another quick spin-caution set up a repeat of Morris trying to stick the nose inside Maupin on the restart, to no avail. After a lap 16 restart, the top three broke away quickly back under green with Morris still trying to dive in under Maupin. Morris got his best chance on lap 18 getting door to door with Maupin on the back stretch, but [Read More]
