Yankee past champions round table is Sept. 2

FARLEY, Iowa – The 40th annual Yankee Dirt track Classic will truly be a spectacular racing event and will honor the founder of the event, Al Frieden.

The Farley Speedway Promotions group will host a past champions round table discussion in the Palace Ballroom on Saturday, Sept. 2 immediately following the charity auction, which will get underway at noon.

The past champions round table session is expected to get underway no later than 2 p.m.

Past champions of the prestigious Yankee who have already committed to take part in the round table are the winner of the inaugural event in 1978 Verlin Eakers, 1979 winner Fred Horn, 1981 winner Ken Walton, 1996 and 1998 winner Gary Webb, 1997, 2003 and 2015 winner Jeff Aikey, 1999 and 2000 winner Steve Boley and 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007 winner Denny Eckrich. In addition, recent winners Jeremiah Hurst, Tyler Bruening and Joel Callahan are also expected to take part.

The session will include highlights from the Yankee in the words of the drivers themselves plus a question and answer session open to all fans. The round table is free of charge in the spacious beautiful Palace Ballroom on the Farley Speedway grounds.

Racing action for the Sept. 2 championship night of the 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic will take to the 3/8 mile Farley Speedway dirt track at 6:30 p.m. The night’s action will be highlighted by the $10,000 to win 100-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series IMCA Late Model main event, which is expected to be run at approximately 9 p.m.
